Something is going very wrong with our vampire hunters. First, Corey Haim bit the big one. Now, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Nicholas Brendan has been tased and arrested by police after vandalizing a Venice, California neighborhood during a drunken rampage.

Brendan reportedly swung at authorities when approached over the disturbance this morning. He then attempted to flee on foot and was tased twice. The 38-year-old actor has beene charged with felony vandalism and was being held earlier today on $20,000 bail.

Brendan played lovable dork Xander on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” from 1997 to 2003. The show’s cancellation drove a stake through Brendan’s career, leaving him to rot in straight-to-DVD flicks and stage productions such as The Santaland Diaries (pictured above).

Sigourney Weaver has signed on to star opposite Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter in writer/director Amy Heckerling’s vampire rom-com Vamps. Weaver will play the vampire queen responsible for turning Silverstone and Ritter’s characters into bloodsuckers.

I’m not sure what’s brought on Hollywood’s fascination with the older woman/younger girl dynamic (see Amanda Seyfried Dykes Out with Julianne Moore), but I’m digging it—although, not so much in this case.

Vamps centers on two New York based BFF vampires (Silverstone, Ritter) whose friendship and immortality is threaten when they each discover love. The film reunites Silverstone with her Clueless director.

Vamps is slated to begin production in April.

Actress Rose McGowan and her perky breasts have joined Rachel Nichols and her gorgeous jugs in director Marcus Nispel’s upcoming Conan the Barbarian remake for Nu Image/Millennium Films. McGowan is cast as an evil witch.

McGowan played a good witch on the long-running WB series “Charmed” and was set to star as Red Sonja in Robert Rodriguez’s long-delayed adaptation of the Conan spinoff.

Shooting on the Conan got underway on Monday in Sofia, Bulgaria. The film costars Stephen Lang as the villainous Khalar Singh, Ron Pearlman as Conan’s father, and Jason Momoa (“Stargate Atlantis”) as Conan.

Lionsgate will handle U.S. distribution.

Twilight’s Kristen Stewart is in talks to star opposite Julianne Moore in director Bart Freundlich’s recently announced apocalyptic thriller Backwoods. The film is currently in its casting stage, but is set to begin shooting in summer.

Freundlich is Moore’s husband of seven years. They met on the set of his 1997 dramedy The Myth of the Fingerprints. Interestingly enough, Freundlich also shot a 13-year-old Stewart in the 2004 family flick Catch That Kid.

Hmm. Sounds to me like someone’s been biding their time to get into Stewart’s now 19-year-old ass. What other reason could there be? The girl has zero personality and screen presence. It’s a shame you can’t buy talent at Hot Topic.
