iman

The Iron Man 2 marketing push is in full effect. Fans have been bombarded with trailers, photos, and posters. But, now, Marvel Pictures/Paramount have released a promo clip made especially for those of us who watch movies with our hands down our pants.

Sure, many will say the clip depicts the public spectacle Tony Stark has become after announcing that he is Iron Man and indulging in the notoriety and fame. But, personally, I think it’s a commentary on how hot women look when they dress up like superheroes.

Enjoy (via Apple):

Iron Man 2 is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downy Jr., Scarlett JohanssonMickey Rourke, Samuel Jackson, Don Cheadle, and Gwyneth Paltrow. The film flies into theaters on May 7.

re-afterlife2

Resident Evil: Afterlife director Paul W.S. Anderson and stars Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter were on hand yesterday at the Wondercon convention in San Francisco to premiere the first official trailer for the latest sequel in the hugely successful Resident Evil series.

Check it out (courtesy of MySpace):

Resident Evil: Afterlife was shot with the same “3-D  fusion camera system” used by James Cameron on Avatar.

Said Anderson:

We spent more money than ever before on the film. They allowed me to go shoot in Tokyo, in Los Angeles, we shot in Canada, we even shot in the snow and ice in Alaska.

Almost a year ago today, James Cameron was kind enough to screen a large chunk of Avatar for us. It was still a work in progress, but… the camera system that Cameron built to shoot that movie was absolutely remarkable.

It was providing 3-D imagery that was so much more sophisticated and was of a higher quality than anything I had ever seen before in the world of 3-D. That was when I decided our movie had to be in 3-D and we had to use that camera system to shoot it.

Ali Larter, who returns to the franchise as Claire Redfield, sang Milla’s praises.

She said:

I was so excited to come back. Milla brings so much style and so much class to it, and she kicks ass like no other… Girls aren’t always cool. And I come there and we just have a lot of fun together. We’re laughing and we love figuring out our stunts and really getting dirty in there.

Jovovich has played the role of Alice in the Resident Evil series since 2002.

She enthused:

It’s Resident Evil, man. You get a chance to do a really great story and have fun. It’s like going to Disneyland or going to Magic Mountain. It’s fun to make a movie where you’re flying and you’re kicking butt and you’re training and you’re doing so much stuff that you would never do.

Resident Evil: Afterlife arrives in 2-D and 3-D in theaters on Sept. 10. To date, the franchise, based on the bestselling Capcom video game, has grossed over $378 million worldwide.

Half-Woman/Half-Beast = Hot ‘Splice’ Trailer

splice8

Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for director Vincenzo Natali’s (Cube) long-delayed sci-fi morality tale Splice, starring Adrien Brody (Predators) and Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead) as ethically-compromised geneticists who successfully splice human and animal DNA to create a hybrid female named Dren.

Take a look:

I don’t know a lot about science, but I think things would have gone better for everyone in this movie if Brody and Polley’s characters had simply followed the John Hughes formula of Barbie doll + game of Life + bra on head = Kelly LeBrock. Just saying.

Splice arrives in theaters on June 4. To see images and read an interview with director Vincenzo Natali, click here.

Ass-to-Mouth Fans Will Love ‘The Human Centipede’ Trailer!

human-centipede

IFC Films has unleashed the first official trailer for its controversial mad-doctor film The Human Centipede: First  Sequence, available OnDemand on April 28 and in limited theatrical release beginning April 30.

Directed by Dutch filmmaker Tom Six, Centipede stars newbie actresses Ashlynn Yennie and Ashley C. Williams as American tourists abducted by an evil German scientist hell-bent on creating a human centipede by sewing people together mouth-to-anus.

(To read a review, go here)

The film costars Akihiro Kitamura, Dieter Laser, and Andreas Leupold and has already won awards on the film festival circuit, including Best Picture at the 2009 Scream Fest LA Film Festival and Best Horror Film at the 2009 Fantastic Fest. Six is currently working on a sequel, which will feature a 15 person human centipede.

Says star Ashlynn Yennie:

It was a little uncomfortable. …I think the most uncomfortable part was being down on all fours with your mouth … your jaw hurts mostly, because your mouth was open on a bit. But it wasn’t that bad, I’ll be honest. It wasn’t that bad to be on all fours.

Normally when we told people they were going to sew people together they thought it was going to be shoulder to shoulder, but we’re like “No … ass-to-mouth … it’s great.”
