Bear Necessities: Piper Perabo Joins Grizzly Thriller ‘Red Machine’

Piper Perabo (Carriers, “Covert Affairs”) is the first female lead cast in director David Hackl’s (Saw 5) upcoming killer grizzly thriller Red Machine. The pretty Texas-born stunner will star opposite Billy Bob Thorton (Sling Blade), James Marsden (Straw Dogs) and Thomas Jane (Punisher).

Written by Rick Cleveland (”Six Feet Under”) and J.R. Reher, Red Machine follows two estranged brothers (Marsden, Jane) and their girlfriends as they attempt to escape from the bloodthirsty grizzly stalking them throughout the Alaskan wilderness.

According to Deadline, Perabo will play a deaf photographer engaged to Jane’s character, whom she met while working the Iraq War. Production on the film begins this month in Vancouver.

The passengers on board Grudge director Takashi Shimizu’s new in-flight frightener 7500 have had enough of mother-fucking ghosts on their mother-fucking plane. Unfortunately for them, Samual Jackson is no where to be found.

The passenger log does, however, include Amy Smart and Ryan Kwanten as a married couple on their way to visit with friends in Japan, fellow travelers Christian Serratos, Jerry Ferrara, Scout Taylor-Compton and sexy flight attendants Jamie Chung, Leslie Bibb, and Nicky Whelan.

7500 arrives in theaters on Aug. 31.

Australian writer/director Tom Conyers makes his feature film debut with The Caretaker, an intelligent you-watch-my-back-and-I-won’t-stake-yours vampire thriller starring Aussie stage actress Anna Kate Burgess (”Time Warp: A Rocky Horror Tribute Show”).

The film’s synopsis reads:

As a wave of vampirism sweeps the world, Annie and Guy, who have taken a road trip in a last-ditch attempt to save their relationship, find themselves part of a discordant group holed up in a decrepit country mansion.

In an uneasy pact, the group agrees to protect vampire Ford Grainger during daylight hours. In return, he guarantees their safety from marauding vampires at night.

Manipulation, deceit and betrayal within the group threaten the fragile agreement, leading to a terrifying and heart-rending showdown.

The Caretaker costars newcomer Clint Dowdell, Colin MacPherson (Parallels) and Lee Mason (Parallels). No word on a release date yet, but there is a website to stay informed and peep some cool BTS stuff.
