Although it’s not about a Sunset Strip hair-metal band, Accent Films Metal Tornado is every bit as ridiculous and every bit as awesome. Starring Canadian starlet Nicole de Boer, Lou Diamond Phillips and Briana Evigan’s dad, the film revolves around a magnetic twister destroying everything in its path.

Boer has starred in a string of notable genre projects, including the very funny 2008 rock-n-roll vampire comedy Suck, Vincenzo Natali’s 1997 sci-fi masterpiece Cube, Paramount’s syndicated series “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and USA’s “Stephen King’s Dead Zone.”

Metal Tornado is forecast to hit DVD on May 22, following its VOD premiere on May 8.

Professional dancer-turned-actress Rachele Brooke Smith is ready to tango with the devil. The Arizona-born stunner has joined writer/director Justin Price’s The Cloth, a horror-actioner starring Danny Trejo and Eric Roberts as priests fighting demonic possession …

… with shotguns and cool sci-fi gadgetry.

The very bendy Smith, whose dance skills have been featured in such fam-friendly productions as Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, Iron Man 2 (as an Ironette) and “Glee (the Britney Spears episode),” plays Julia, a possessed young woman who somehow still looks super hot.

Well Go USA Entertainment has set a March 20 home-video release date for director Simeon Halligan’s long-delayed creature-feature Splintered. ”Hollyoaks” alumna Holly Weston toplines the film, which won six awards at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best F/X and Best Makeup.

Troubled teen Sophie (Weston) drags her friends deep into a forest in search of a local legend – a wild beast, half animal and half man, that uses its cunning ability and brutal strength to kill for pleasure. In addition to its wins at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, Splintered also received nominations last year from the Saturn Awards (Best Horror Film) and Spike TV’s Scream Awards (Most Memorable Mutilation).

AnnaLynne McCord (”90210″) stars opposite Antonio Sabato Jr. (”My Antonio”) and James Brolin (”Hotel”) in Bad Actor Island Bad Girl Island, a Caribbean-set supernatural thriller about a mysterious seductress who just may be a voodoo witch … or something.

When the enchanting Simone (McCord) mysteriously appears on the tropical island of Eleuthera, no man can resist her deadly charm.

McCord, best known for her role as privileged brat Naomi Clark on The CW’s “90210,” can also be seen in Millennium’s 2008 home-video original Day of the Dead, a remake of George Romero’s 1985 film, and the 20th Century Fox frightener The Haunting of Molly Hartley.

The Asylum has set a March 27 home-video release date for director Liz Adams’ feature debut Air Collision. The film stars genre babe Jordan Ladd (pictured above) as a flight attendant helping passengers keep their shit in while their plane attempts to avert a collision with Air Force One.

Costarring in the airline disaster flick are Reginald VelJohnson (”Family Matters”) as an air traffic controller dealing with “the worst case scenario,” Dave Vescio (Human Factor) as a hysterical passenger and Andy Clemence (Black Forrest) as the President of the U.S.A.

Ladd, who made her feature acting debut at the age of 19 in the Alyssa Milano cult-fav Embrace of the Vampire, has starred in a number of noteworthy frighteners, including Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever and Hostel 2, Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, and Paul Solet’s must-see demon-spawn mind-fuck Grace.

Freestyle Digital Media has set a Jan. 17 home-DVD release date for director Elise Robertson’s cannibal frightener Donner Pass. “Teen Wolf” recurring Desiree Hall stars as part of a group of snowboarding teens consumed by an ancient curse while snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The film’s official synopsis reads:

DONNER PASS tells the story of settlers in 1846 that became snowbound in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and had to resort to cannibalism to survive.

Some 150 years later, a group of teens on a snowboard trip discover that the curse of the Donner Party still haunts those mountains when members of their group start turning up not only dead, but half-eaten.

Nothing – and no one – is what it seems in this provocative dark thriller. And history doesn’t always stay in the past.

Donner Pass was picked up by Freestyle Digital Media at the American Film Market in November.

Hall is best known for playing Beacon Hills’ sexy school nurse Jennifer on MTV’s new “Teen Wolf” series. The pretty redhead has also guest starred on the TV shows “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “CSI: Miami,” and NBC’s short-lived Jimmy Smits-courtroom drama “Outlaw.” Donner Pass is Hall’s feature film debut.

Japanese porn star Ozawa Maria stars in director Nozomu Kasagi’s Tokyo Species, a kink-fueled re-imagining of the 1995 MGM sci-fi actioner Species, starring Natasha Henstridge as a horny, but deadly, alien.

Maria plays Michiko, a high school girl who commits suicide, but is re-animated by an alien parasite that turns her into an insatiable sex fiend with a homicidal streak. The only one who can stop her is Mayumi, a good-natured alien hybrid schoolgirl.

Those who surf the internet with a credit card and a box of tissues will most likely recognize Maria from her previous work in Anal Slave Enema Spray, Fallen Urine-Drinking Pig Idol, Torture with Sperm 2 and the epic Multiple Black Rape.

Tokyo Species arrives on DVD in Japan on Feb. 3, 2012.

Universal Pictures has released a trailer for the third installment in its Scorpion King franchise. Entitled Scorpion King: The Battle for Redemption, the film is produced by the folks behind The Mummy and stars genre-fav Billy Zane and Ron Pearlman of Hellboy and “Sons of Anarchy” fame.

But, the real draw here—as with any low-budget home-video release—is the exposure to up-and-coming talent it gives movie fans … and by up-and-coming talent I mean hot half-naked chicks (sorry, Victor Webster, whoever you are).

Krystal Vee

Vee is a Bangkok-born model-turned-actress who made her American debut in the 2009 video game adaptation Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. She can also be seen in the Danny Trejo-led sci-fi actioner The Lazurus Papers.

The Scorpion King: The Battle for Redemption is directed by Roel Reine (Death Race 2: Frankenstein Lives) and costars Boston Christopher (Otis), UFC fighter Kimbo Slice, wrestler Dave Bautista and the guy who played Bobba Fett’s father in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.

Look for it on Blu-ray and DVD in January.

Brazilian model-turned-actress Gabriela Dias has sambaed her way into director H.M. Coakley’s Hollaback, a sequel to his debut feature Holla. Set in a plantation house in Louisiana, the film follows the mysterious deaths of a wedding party.

Joining the 5-foot-9 stunner are babes Laila Odom (”Sex Chronicles”) and Melissa Paulo (“Death Valley”), and leads Kiely Williams (The House Bunny), Vanessa Bell Callow (Lakeview Terrace) and everyone’s favorite Mexi-can Danny Trejo (Machete).

Hollaback is set to start shooting next week in Los Angeles. The original Holla was distributed by Lionsgate. If Mr. Coakley can get studio heavy-hitter Tyler Perry onboard the project and rename it Madea’s Hollaback, this could be a huge hit.

Kristen Stewart (Snow White and the Huntsman), Lily Collins (Mirror, Mirror) and Ginnifer Goodwin (“Once Upon a Time”) aren’t exactly the apple of your eye in their respective Snow White roles, you may want to take a look at Shanley Caswell in Snow White: A Deadly Summer.

Directed by David DeCoteau (Puppet Master: Axis of Evil), the re-imagining finds Snow White being sent away to camp by her wicked stepmother. Once there, she befriends seven campers who mysteriously start to turn up dead one-by-one.

Snow White: A Deadly Summer costars Eric Roberts (of course it does) and OG “Brady Bunch” star Maureen McCormick. No word on a release date, but I’ll keep you Dopey bastards updated.
