Model/actress Tawny Amber Young may not have gotten a chance to rock Bret Michaels’ world on VH1’s “Rock of Love,” but she’s making ours spin as go-go dancer Temperance in Freakshow Entertainment’s outrageous ode to exploitation cinema Nude Nuns with Big Guns.

The 5-foot-5, busty stunner has also got a string of indie-frighteners coming down the pike, among them the Joe Hollow slasher Cut, Brandon Slagle’s Vivid, and Eric Anthony Pereira’s cannibal-themed thriller The Locals.

MUERTOS: Nude Nuns with Big Guns. A lot of actresses would run away from a title like that. What made you think hell yeah I’m in?

TAWNY: Yes, the title makes people raise an eyebrow and wonder (laughs)! I had to explain myself a number of times to friends about what the movie is about. I love it though. The title does pull people in! The title didn’t scare me away though. I beat my own drum and play characters that interest me. It just sounded like it would be a lot of fun, and it was!

MUERTOS: Tell us about your character Temperance?

TAWNY: Temperance is one of Chavo’s girls. She’s fun, good at pool and loves to watch the other girls with Chavo! She’s a go-go dancer at their Biker bar.

MUERTOS: What was your favorite scene in the movie to shoot?

TAWNY: All of it was so much fun it’s hard to pick. I’d have to go with the pool table scene since it gave me something to do in-between resetting. I also had fun in my scene with Devanny Pinn!

MUERTOS: Have you ever met a scary nun in your life?

TAWNY: No I can’t say that I have. I do come from a strong catholic family though, so I’ve heard stories from the past of nuns with rulers and hitting my grandma on her left hand since she was left handed. I’m left handed and I’m happy that doesn’t happen anymore.

MUERTOS: There’s a lot of nudity in NNBG. In your modeling career, you have done nude shoots. How much harder is it to do on film?

TAWNY: I don’t know if I would say nudity is harder on film, it’s just different. With film you just keep moving and playing your character and in modeling you hold poses. Both situations have a crew so the number of people isn’t really a factor. Both try to make you as comfortable as possible. Now, I’m just use to it. It’s not a big deal.

MUERTOS: Does it concern you at all that those scenes often end up leaked online?

TAWNY: No it doesn’t bother me at all. It may bother the producer and director more than me (laughs). Modeling for Playboy has put my photos out their already so there is no going back and trying to hide. I just embrace it. I’m proud of what I’m rockin’ and a little more P.R. and more fans is always a good thing.

MUERTOS: God bless you! NNBG is a violent revenge thriller in which Sister Sarah shoots, stabs, maims, and murders those who raped and left her for dead. If you were to even the score with all who have wronged you, what would your weapon of choice be and why?

TAWNY: That is a brilliant question and tons have done me dirty (laughs)! I do the killing-with-kindness thing now, but that’s no fun. Hypothetically, I’d probably have to knock them out and play plastic surgeon on them But, Gerard Butler stole that idea in Law Abiding Citizen. Mine would just be cleaner and I’d wear a sexy nurse outfit!

MUERTOS: Nice. Would any of your victims be castmates from “Rock of Love?”

TAWNY: I wasn’t there long enough to gain enemies. Some girls were starting to get on my nerves a little, but none were close enough for a good killing. Probably just good enough for a kick down a set of stairs.

MUERTOS: What can you tell us about your roles in Vivid and Cut?

TAWNY: I don’t wanna give away too much so I’ll give ya a little bite. In Vivid I play a character called the Nymph. The scenes are just very colorful and bright, it’s a very seductive and entrancing. In Cut I play Maria, a member of this really messed up, confused sadistic family. Maria just finds herself conflicted as to what she whats to do and what side she truly stands on.

MUERTOS: Will there be more horror/sci-fi projects in your future? Any you can tip us off to now?

TAWNY: I’m actually working on The Locals which is directed by Eric Anthony Pereira and has great talent like Devanny Pinn, Brandon Slagle, Erik Preston, and Angie Savage. We are almost wrapped on that. Also just signed up to do Bloody Wedding a couple days ago. I don’t have much info on this one but the script is fun. So I’m working on two at the same time! I’m very excited!!!

MUERTOS: What is the best horror/sci-fi film ever made?

TAWNY: I really am a fan of House of a 1000 Corpses! It’s just so out there. I wouldn’t want to be in those situations at all. I love the series called ” Dead Set.” It’s about the zombie apocalypse while focusing on people doing the show ” Big Brother”. It’s based in England. It’s awesome!

MUERTOS: What about the lamest?

TAWNY: A few of the recent ones in my memory that I’m not a fan of are “The Zombies Diaries” for one. I didn’t even get that one. It was all over the place. The transition with scenes and the characters was confusing. I was lost and then disappointed. I was yelling at the screen during the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. That was just HORRIBLE.

I wasn’t a fan of The Last Exorcism. It could’ve been so much better. The ending left me empty. All this build up with no finish (laughs).

MUERTOS: Personally, what scares and/or freaks the shit out of you?

TAWNY: Zombies!!!!! I’m one of those people that thinks it will actually happen.

If you watch a lot of television, you’ve probably seen actress Marissa Skell and said “hey, it’s that girl again!” Since cutting her teeth on VH1’s reality show “Scream Queens” in 2008, the 24-year-old stunner has scored memorable—often intense—roles on such popular shows as the CBS crime dramas “Criminal Minds” and “The Mentalist,” Showtime’s “Dexter,” and Spike TV’s “1000 Ways to Die.”

Clatto recently caught up with Skell to discuss her slasher film debut Sorority Party Massacre, the importance of having fun on-set, her desire to kill discreetly, and what she learned from her first experience as a “Scream Queen.”

MUERTOS: Tell us about your role in directors Justin Jones and Chris Freeman’s Sorority Party Massacre?

MARISSA: I’ll be playing Paige, an athletic and competitive Alpha Pi Omega member with a dark side… and that’s about all I can say for now.

MUERTOS: Is this really your first slasher flick? What drew you to the project?

MARISSA: Yes!  This is technically my first slasher flick, although I have been getting killed off or threatened on TV a lot lately. I originally auditioned for Chris and Justin’s feature called Mirror Image, and to make a long story short, I ended up shooting the made for TV movie “Left at the Altar” the following month instead of Justin and Chris’ movie.

A couple months later, I get an e-mail from Justin asking me to come in for a promotional shoot for their next movie. I show up and Chris explains that they’ve written a role with me in mind and we’ve been putting this movie together ever since. And we all lived happily ever after.

MUERTOS: I hear that the gory scenes will be shot over the next few weeks. How are you preparing for that? Are you squeamish at all?

MARISSA: Nahhh… the blood and guts is the fun part. The fight sequences are more challenging to really look good. I took a few boxing classes before shooting Sorority Party Massacre so that I wouldn’t look like a pansy on set.  But dying is easy!

MUERTOS: Along with spring chickens such as you, Eve Mauro, and Yvette Yates, Sorority Party Massacre also stars some noteworthy old-schoolers, namely Kevin Sorbo, C. Thomas Howell, Richard Moll, and Ron Jeremy. How familiar were you with their previous work?

MARISSA: Yeah, I could probably name the big, mainstream stuff that these guys are known for, but sadly, I won’t be sharing scenes with many of them. I have to admit that I’m reeeeeeally looking forward to working with Ed O Ross, known for Full Metal Jacket and Dick Tracy. Most of the guys have worked with him on several projects by now and apparently he’s got this “$#*! My Dad Says” kind of attitude where you can’t believe half of the things coming out of his mouth.

MUERTOS: On the CBS show “Criminal Minds,” you played the abducted victim of a sadistic serial killer and his protégé. You were also kidnapped and held for ransom on “The Mentalist.” Now, here you are being stalked by a serial killer with a taste for sorority girls. How do you still go outside? Which of those roles has freaked you out the most and why?

MARISSA: I go outside with mace and brass knuckles. Nah… I have to say that I’ve been pretty amused by how much everybody wants to kill me off.  I guess I have bad karma left over from a past life or something.  I’m hoping to edit together a video of my many deaths eventually, but I probably have a few more good death scenes to go before I can pull that one off. I don’t know that any of the roles freaked me out, persay…  In fact, usually they’re my favorite roles… maybe that just means I’m already pretty psycho.

MUERTOS: If you could play any character on a horror, sci-fi, and/or fantasy show, who would it be and why?

MARISSA: I’d want to be the killer!!!  Of course. Preferably an intelligent, clean killer like Hannibal Lecter or Dexter, who lives a double life. Like have a normal day job working as a doctor and then methodically picking out my victims in the evenings over a nice glass of Pinot. But I have to come to terms that most people aren’t all that intimidated by me. Can’t figure out if it’s the 5′2″ height… or the blonde hair… or the peaches and cream body lotion… hmm…

MUERTOS: Did your experience on VH1’s “Scream Queens” help you prepare for the roles you’ve played on “Criminal Minds,” “Dexter,” and, now, Sorority Party Massacre?

MARISSA: I think one of my best lessons came from James Gunn. I specifically remember working with him on the bathtub scene in Episode One.  They barely aired any of it, but afterwards when I ran into him he said that it seemed like I wasn’t having any fun on set and that I was too serious. And I realized that I was so focused on “trying to do a good job” that I wasn’t any fun to hang out with.

No director wants to be stuck for weeks on end with an actor who isn’t any fun to be around. Since then, I’ve lightened up A LOT! And now I really understand that the acting ability is probably only 2% of what most people in the business are looking for. The other 98% has to do with a look and whether or not you’re a good person at the core.

MUERTOS: You were up against nine girls for a part in Saw 6. How cutthroat did things really get on the show?

MARISSA: The girls were really down to earth and interesting when the cameras were off.  And the biggest problem I was having with the show was that I never reacted the way they wanted me to. This one time, I volunteered to go up and pull the next challenge out of a box. After I read it to the group, a bunch of snakes were thrown out from under the table onto our feet. A couple of the girls were freaked out and ran away, but a lot of us were like, “whaaaat?”

I started picking a few of them up and that was when the producers had to come out and ask us to redo the scene with “more of a scared reaction.”  The whole show was just a really bad fit for me.

MUERTOS: What’s the funniest or craziest thing that you remember happening while filming Scream Queens?

MARISSA: My second to last day before leaving was definitely the craziest. We were shooting the window challenge where you jump out onto the stunt pad. And right before they rounded us all up this production assistant come up to me and pulled me aside because my roommate had gotten in touch with the production team to let them know that my landlord was trying to kick me out.

I’d just found an apartment a couple days before they pulled me onto the show, and I’d accidentally given my landlord the wrong check! So, if you’re paying really close attention to the “window challenge” you’ll notice that a lot of the time the cameras are really tight on the front row of the girls. That’s because I jumped out of the window and then ran to the nearest Washington Mutual to get out $900 in cash for my roommate. It really sucked.

MUERTOS: Are you still friends with any of the girls?

MARISSA: Yes! I consider Sarah Agor one of my best friends out here in LA to this day. The show didn’t do her justice. She’s crazy talented and has a wicked sense of humor.

MUERTOS: You were given the axe in episode three. How did you take that? What did you do?

MARISSA: I was so relieved! A part of me thinks that they took pity on me and let me out because the whole apartment thing happened the same day.

In general, I’m happy that I left early because they really smeared all the girls except Tanedra [season one's winner] to make them look mean, catty, shallow, etc.  The worst they did to me was make me look really insecure and whiny, lol!  I’ll take that over being “the shallow bitch” any day.

MUERTOS: What sparked your interest in becoming an actress? Which actors do you admire?

MARISSA: I started with afterschool drama clubs way back in third grade. I’d moved from Texas to New York in Elementary school, so I was kind of an outcast.  Y’know… I had that accent where I’d say “y’all” and “tay-rible” instead of terrible.

So, one day in class when I was being a pain the ass my third grade teacher sentenced me to drama club instead of detention. I still keep in touch with her to this day because she’s one of those teachers who really changed my life for the better.  And then the rest is a loooooong story as to how I got here to LA.

My favorite actor hands down is Daniel Day-Lewis. And beyond that, I have to say that I admire a lot of the work I see out there. It’s a really competitive business, so you don’t have much room for mediocrity in the long run.

MUERTOS: What things did you consider before heading out to LA to pursue a career in acting?

MARISSA: Moving out to Los Angeles was a last minute decision. I already had an apartment in New York City and had never thought I’d be interested in television or film. I was really determined to have a stage career. But the best manager I met with had been in Los Angeles, and I had this gut feeling that I would be missing out on an opportunity if I didn’t take it.

So I did, and it’s been a roller coaster ever since! I’d never acted on camera before “Scream Queens,” so after that was over I started taking classes in LA and with my previous acting training it just took me awhile to get used to acting for a camera instead of a 500 seat audience. And now, two years later it’s really paying off.

MUERTOS: Any upcoming projects you can tell us about?

MARISSA: Sorority Party Massacre is pretty much the big thing I’m looking forward to right now. I also have a couple short films like “Hold Up” and “Meaningful Mother” that will hopefully be done with post production soon.

MUERTOS: You were on Spike TV’s “1000 Ways to Die.” What do you think would be the most awful and/or embarrassing way to go?

MARISSA: I heard of a guy drowning in a bowl of jello. That’s pretty bad.

The debut season of the Starz series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” treated viewers to hyper-stylized violence, debauched sex, and Lucy Lawless’ first-ever topless scenes. It was everything fans of the swords-and-sandals genre could have expected from Bitch Slap director Rick Jacobson and uber-producer Sam Raimi.

What no one saw coming, however, was the quiet—but erotically-charged—introduction of 22-year-old aspiring actress Laura Surrich in the show’s sixth episode (”Delicate Things”). The pretty New Zealand native played the uncredited role of a nude slave girl taken in a bathhouse by gladiator owner Batiatus (John Hannah) upon his wife Lucretia’s (Lawless) urging.

The slave girl part may not have been a speaking role, but it did get tongues wagging about the busty starlet playing her, especially on this site. I caught up with Surrich to discuss her “Spartacus” experience, her thoughts on nudity, fellow New Zealander Lucy Lawless, future projects, and—yes—her amazing boobs.

Muertos: Your part as a slave girl in “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”  is pretty memorable. Did you know the role would be as racy as it was when you first auditioned for it? What were your thoughts about going nude for the part?

Laura: I didn’t quite know the intensity of this role (laughs)! But that’s ok. The nude part of course I was a bit nervous about, but having all the others around me also nude really did normalise the scene for me. I thought to myself ‘Hey, if a professional like Lucy Lawless can do it, then I can do it!’ It’s also just acting to me.

Muertos: Walk us through the filming of that particular scene. What was it like?

Laura: Well, obviously for the sake of us naked actors, they wanted to shoot it nice and quick. The crew did an amazing job looking after us, keeping us warm in between takes. For me, it was about putting my mind into the situation so I wasn’t standing there going ‘ Ah, I’m naked.’ I took myself out of that and I got into the zone of being that slave.

Muertos: Do you get offered a lot of roles requiring nudity at this stage in your career? If so, how do you feel about that and how do you decide when it’s appropriate, or is it not a big deal at all?

Laura: Every speaking role I have been offered, I have been cast as something involving sex. I’m starting to think I’m sending off the wrong messages (laughs). I always think, of course, before I accept the roles about how appropraite it is. “Spartacus” for example, I saw that as apppropriate because back then that was how it really was for the slaves. There was no choices for them and life was cheap. So I saw that as acting a legit role. I would never do anything I considered degrading.

Muertos: My readers have been curious to know your name since your “Spartacus” episode aired. Were you upset that your name was not included in the credits of the episode?

Laura: No (laughs). As much as I would love to have my name out there, I think it’s safer to keep that kind of scene low key. I think you all know why (laughs)! Is a bit late now but still, not one person in New Zealand has mentioned that scene so I’m hoping it stays that way for now.

Muertos: Both you and Lucy Lawless are from New Zealand. Did you guys bond on the set? I picture you two engaged in pillow fights while dressed as warrior princesses in her trailer. Am I wrong?

Laura: (laughs) Lucy was lovely. She is very friendly and easy to get a long with. I feel very privileged to have been able to work with her.

Muertos: How old were you when you began to act?

Laura: I first started when I was 13. At 16 I left school to do a Diploma in Acting. I am now 22. But it has always been something I have had a huge passion for.

Muertos: What was your first professional acting job?

Laura: My first job was acting on another New Zealand show called “The Tribe.” That was only a small part, but I enjoyed that very much. I played one of the ‘Mozzies’, an all female tribe.

Muertos: Could you share something funny or crazy that’s happened to you while on-set?

Laura: Gross or funny, I farted on set once! We were filming and the take was going perfectly until out it slipped. The worst part was it was so loud everyone stopped and laughed. I know, not very lady like but I’m very down to earth and open so I like to share these type of stories (laughs).

Muertos: Tell us about your role in the horror-comedy Diagnosis Death?

Laura: I played a lady named Tawny. The scene was I had just been on a date with Andre (Raybon Kan). We had met online and it was all about him trying to get into bed with me by taking me out to a lavish dinner. Tawny isn’t all about morals so it ends up with Andre getting what he was after.

Muertos: Do you like scary movies? Which are some of your favorites?

Laura: I am such a wimp when it comes to scary movies. I just can’t do them! The scariest is anything supernatural like American Haunting. That kept me hugging my pillow for weeks!

Muertos: You’re also a pop singer and a model. Care to update us on any music and modeling projects?

Laura: I am currently in the process of getting ready to film and release my first music video for my single coming out “Love Lust,” so do look out for that one. Modeling, I have some awesome new shoota coming up which I can’t say to much about at the moment, but I can say they’re very exciting.

Muertos: Any horror/sci-fi roles coming up?

Laura: Not at the moment, but still out there looking for the roles! Any offers (laughs)?

Muertos: On your blog, you  discuss four amazing facts about boobs. Could you tell us four amazing facts about your boobs?

Laura: They’re big (laughs)! But, that’s no secret. I, personally, would like them smaller. They’re almost an E!

Clatto: How did Muki’s Kitchen come to fruition?

Mr. Muki: To tell the truth, having a fetish as odd and dark as this can be very lonely.

Mrs. Muki: When we first discovered that Mr Muki was not alone in his cannibal fantasies (via Usenet–the World Wide Web was not up yet), most of the stuff we saw online consisted of stories, some drawings, and a few photo-manipulations. The photo-mainpulations were kind of interesting but they mostly consisted of a pin-up image of some naked girl, cut out and pasted into a fake tray or some other cooking situation.

Well by this time, Mr Muki had already photographed me in turkey-like poses and had also photographed an art-model in even more explicit shots. He was already a professional photographer, with his own studio, and had done work in special effects for low-budget motion pictures. In short, there was probably no one more qualified to do the very kinds of pictures that the cannibal fetishists would most enjoy. While exploring what was out there, we started thinking about how like-minded fetishists would react to the images we had already made, if only they could see them! This is what got us thinking that we might just have something if we only put the effort into building a site.

Clatto: These fantasies are extremely provocative. Do you worry that people won’t get it? Or, that it may encourage violence towards women?

Mr. Muki: When we first started planning Muki’s Kitchen, the thought that someone might take it as a blueprint for criminal acts was most definitely our main concern. Fortunately, we hit upon the perfect “tone” for our site. Humor is definitely a large part of how we handle the “dark side” of what we do. You really can’t take any of this too seriously and the more you relax and have fun with it, the healthier it will be for you!

Mrs. Muki: Some of our most ardent fans are women. We emphasize fantasy in our visuals as well as our writing. All of our pictures are strictly of women, playing both the chefs and the entrees. Mr. Muki completely identifies with women, whether they’re the chefs or the entrees, and we feel that this is a large part of our site’s appeal to women.

Think about it, a lot of sexual fantasy is all about tension. The girl who is playing the chef almost certainly empathizes with the girl who she is preparing as the entree; only a very thin thread of luck separates the chef from suddenly being the entree. If you put yourself in either place, you are very close to being the other. As weird as it may seem, Mr. Muki completely identifies with both places and his male-self does not even exist in his own sexual fantasies!

Mr. Muki: While the literal concept of cannibalism does indeed have a very violent implication to it, the symbolic side of it is all about making the object of your affections a complete and permanent part of yourself. Yes, the physical reality of it is that the person you eat will eventually be pooped out of your butt, but we don’t really concentrate on that part all too much. If you look at the more infantile and ethereal side of it all, a “consuming passion” actually makes a lot of sense!

Clatto: Do the models understand the fetish?

Mr. Muki: When we started our site, our biggest worry was how we would get models to pose as meat. We need not have worried so much. Some of our very biggest fans are the very models who pose for us! Maybe it’s just that what we do is so different from what they are usually asked to do, but we also credit our very professional approach and the fact that we always strive to make our models look their very best, i.e. sexy & delicious!

Clatto: Is being consumed the ultimate experience for a submissive female?

Mr. Muki: For many of our female fans, and a few models, yes. Think of all of the attention that a Thanksgiving turkey gets when being cooked and served. Wouldn’t all that attention be appealing? Can you just imagine, being a sexy woman, how it would feel knowing that your cooked body would be so appreciated? Okay, we’re probably getting a little carried away here. But, the point is that a true sub wants to completely submit to her master and to be completely satisfying. Is there any more ultimate submission than to be cooked, served, and eaten?

Mrs. Muki: In all seriousness, one of the fascinating appeals of this silly little fetish is the thought that the girl who is the entree is completely beyond any feelings of shame or modesty. Mr. Muki: How about Scarlett Johansson? Scarlett, if you are reading this, please accept this as a compliment. We wish you no harm and are only saying that you certainly do look absolutely delicious! You just can’t serve Scarlett wrong; we’ll eat her up any way she’s served.

Clatto: Is the human liver really served best with fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Mr. Muki: We are not so much into guts and prefer a nice rump-roast. As for side dishes, sauteed onions are our favorites. Regarding choice of wine (and not meaning to cast aspersions on Hannibal’s choices), Chianti is a little low class. If a woman is willing to sacrifice her ass for our meal, she deserves at least a fine Opus One, preferably a 1995!
