IFC Midnight has unleashed a trailer for German director Dennis Gansel’s cheesy-but-fun-looking all-girl vampire flick We Are the Night. The film stars Karoline Herfurth (Perfume: the Story of a Murderer) as a thief turned reluctant bloodsucker after a one-night-stand with a 250-year-old vampire queen.

We Are the Night is an edgy tale of a provocative gang of female vampires living large, making their own rules and leaving a merciless trail of blood.

The film centers on a 20-year-old Berlin native Lena (Herfurth) who gets by as a petty thief. On one of her nightly job runs through an underground club, she meets 250-year-old Louise (Nina Hoss), the owner of the club and leader of an unusual all-female vampire trio – the other two members being wild child Nora (Anna Fischer) and elegant Charlotte (Jennifer Ulrich).

Louise falls head over heels in love with the scruffy Lena and bites her during their first night together. Once bitten, LENA discovers the curse and the blessing of her new, eternal life. She revels in the glamour, parties and infinite freedom, but quickly discovers that the endless blood thirst and murderous appetite of her new girlfriends come at a steep price.

We Are the Night will play selected theaters on May 27. It will also be available nationwide On-Demand starting on May 25th.

Fresh on the fins of Syfy’s Sharktopus, beauty queen Shandi Finnessey (Miss USA 2004) has caught yet another bikini-clad role on the network’s latest creature-feature: Piranhaconda. The silly frightener pits Finnessey and busty genre babe Diana Terranova against a piranha/anaconda hybrid out to devour everything in its path.

Piranhaconda is produced by hack renowned B-movie icon Roger Corman and directed by Jim Wynorski (Cleavagefield). Cameras are set to roll in Hawaii next month.

Finnessey and her bikini made their acting debut in last year’s Sharktopus, a Corman produced monster flick about a half- shark/half-octopus killing machine terrorizing a Mexican beach community. That little gem arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on March 15.

A full-length trailer for Warner Bros/ Legendary Pictures’ girl-power fantasy-actioner Sucker Punch has hit the web. Written and directed by Zack Snyder (Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole), the film stars Emily Browning as a madhouse loon in a sexy schoolgirl outfit slowly surrendering her grip on reality while attempting to deal with the loss of her loved ones.

Do they pay publicists by the word these days? Seems to me all they needed to say was “Hey, we got young girls in revealing fetish wear fighting Nazi robots and shit.”

Sucker Punch costars Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jaime Chung, Carla Gugino, and Jena Malone. Vagina-less cast members include “Mad Men’s” Jon Hamm, Scott Glen,  and Oscar Isaac.

The film swings into theaters on March 25, 2011.

French actress Zoe Felix is headlining director Yann Gozlan’s new abduction-thriller Captifs. The 33-year-old starlet plays a nurse taken captive while doing humanitarian work in Eastern Europe.

Somewhere in Eastern Europe. Carole is a young nurse with a humanitarian aid group that has reached the end of its mission. But just then, the young woman and her two colleagues are kidnapped by strangers for mysterious reasons.

Held captive, cared for and kept alive in an oppressive and sinister setting, the three prisoners soon discover with horror what their kidnappers truly have in store for them.

I don’t care if this movie is about croissants and snails. If there’s a woman in a cage, I’m there.

Captifs, which was originally entitled Caged, arrives in France on Oct. 6. No word yet on a U.S. release date.

Universal Pictures abducted sci-fi fans from the Comic-Con floor yesterday for a panel on directors Colin and Greg Strause’s (Aliens Vs. Predator: Requium) upcoming alien-invasion frightener Skyline. Joining the brothers onstage were starlets Brittany Daniel and Scottie Thompson, David Zayas (of “Dexter” fame), Eric Balfour, and Donald Faison (aka: “Scrubs” brown bear).

Skyline revolves around a group of friends who after a night of drunken debauchery awaken to find bright blue lights shining down from the sky and sucking up all who look up into them.

The film is set in Los Angeles and was shot with a crew of 20 people utilizing Red One cameras, which provide the quality of 35mm film with the convenience of digital technology. Despite being produced as an indie, Skyline’s F/X are top-notch as they were created by the Strause brothers’ very own effects shop Hydraulx, which has produced computer-generated magic for 65 films including Avatar, Iron Man 2, and 2012.

Skyline also stars Crystal Reed from MTV’s upcoming “Teen Wolf” reboot and Urban Legends: Bloody Mary lead  Kate Mara.

Look for it in theaters on Nov. 12, 2010.

The first trailer for 20th Century Fox and Walden Media’s adaptation of Christian author C.S. Lewis’ third Chronicles of Narnia novel, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, has hit the web.

The eagerly anticipated sequel finds Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy Pevensie (Georgie Henley), along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter), joining Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) and his noble mouseketeer Reepicheep (Eddie Izzard) on a high seas mission to find Narnia’s seven lost Lords.

Voyage of the Dawn Treader is directed by Michael Apted (Nell, Gorky Park) and features Liam Neeson as the voice of Asian, the Lion creator of Narnia.

The first two films in the Narnia saga, 2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and 2008’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, were distributed by Walt Disney Films.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader arrives in theaters in digital 3-D this Christmas.

Sara Paxton has signed on to headline director Ti West’s haunted-hotel thriller The Innkeepers. The film is being shot in Connecticut at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, a hotel long believed to be truly haunted.

Paxton and costar Pat Healy will play the last remaining hotel clerks working during the haunted Yankee Pedlar’s final days. Top Gun’s Kelly McGillis also stars as one of the hotel’s creepy guests.

The film’s synopsis reads:

THE INNKEEPERS is centered around the final two employees working in a haunted hotel before it goes out of business.  After over one hundred years in business, The Yankee Pedlar Hotel is about to close its doors for good. The last remaining clerks, Claire (Paxton), a twenty something that has come to terms with her lot in life, and Luke (Healy), a computer-smart loner, are convinced that the hotel is haunted and are determined to prove it.

As time ticks down to the final days of operation, mysterious guests check in including Leanne Rease-Jones (Kelly McGillis), a former TV actress turned psychic, and an old man insistent on staying in room 353. As several strange occurrences begin to add up, both Claire and Luke must make the crucial decision on what to believe and what not to believe…

Paxton, who has a string of family-friendly features, broke out of her good girl image with her starring role in 2009’s brutally violent—and so-much-better-than-the-original—remake of Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left.

The Innkeepers is West’s followup to his mind-numbingly dull and highly overrated The House of the Devil.

CBS Films has released the first official trailer for Beastly, its upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” re-imagining starring Vanessa Hudgens and British newcomer Alex Pettyfer.

Beastly is based on author Alex Flinn’s book of the same name and tells the story of an arrogant high schooler (Pettyfer) whose face is made to look like R&B artist Seal after he pisses off the school’s goth-chick who happens to be a witch. To break the spell, he must make nerdy-hipster classmate Lindy (Hudgens) fall in love with him before the year is through.

The film is directed by Daniel Barnz (Phoebe in Wonderland) and costars Neil Patrick Harris, May-Kate Olson, Peter Krause, Lisa Gay Hamilton, and Dakota Johnson (daughter to Don Johnson & Melanie Griffith). It arrives in theaters on July 30.

A new trailer for Disney’s highly anticipated sci-fi actioner Tron: Legacy has hit the web. Unlike the more action oriented footage shown at last year’s Comic Con convention, the latest clip reveals more of the film’s plot. But, don’t worry, we still get to glimpse a wicked light-cycle chase and perv on Olivia Wilde.

Tron: Legacy centers on Sam Flynn’s (Garrett Hedlund) search for his father Kevin (Jeff Bridges) inside the Tron mainframe. The film serves as a sequel to Disney’s 1982 classic Tron.

Namco Bandai Games is laying out the welcome mat for fans of the man vs. demon combat classic Splatterhouse. The company is drumming up interest with a series of screen-shots from its Splatterhouse reboot. Gotta say, it looks pretty damn mean.

No guts, no glory

Originally launched in 1989, Splatterhouse is getting a much needed face-lift (more detailed violence and better bone-crushing moves) and will be out and swinging come Sept. 2010. In the meantime, enjoy the following gallery:
