The folks at Screen Gems want to remind you why you need to see Underworld: Awakening, the fourth installment in the popular vampires-vs-werewolves franchise that sees the return of Kate Beckinsale as death-dealer Selene … and, it has little to do with supernatural creatures.

Sure, the new trailer provides better looks at Eve, Selene’s half-vamp/half-lycan teen daughter, and the film’s bigger, meaner, and hairier mega-lycan, but the hard sell comes near the end of the clip when it states “Kate Beckinsale In 3-D” and with a low angle shot of her crotch.

Well played, Screen Gems, well played. Underworld: Awakening opens Jan. 20, 2012.

Disney has released the first full-length trailer for their big screen adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “John Carter from Mars,” starring Lynn Collins as Princess Dejah Thoris, Willem Dafoe as Tars Tarkas, Bryan Cranston as Civil War Colonel Powell and Taylor Kitsch as John Carter.

[John Carter] tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet.

In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

The film marks the live-action debut of Oscar-winning Pixar badass Andrew Stanton, writer and director of Wall-E, Finding Nemo, and A Bug’s Life. Stanton is also the writer behind the Toy Story franchise, Monsters Inc. and its upcoming sequel Monsters University.

John Carter will open in 3-D on March 9, 2012.

Sony Screen Gems has released a second trailer for producer Len Wiseman’s Underworld: Awakening, the fourth installment in the popular vampires-vs-werewolves franchise that sees the return of original star Kate Beckinsale as death-dealer Selene.

This time out we get a glimpse at Selene’s weepy pain-in-the-ass daughter, played by India Eisley (”The Secret Life of the American Teenager”), discover that humans have declared war on both vampires and lycans, and are reminded why we still watch this series at the 1:56 mark.

Underworld: Awakening is directed by Swedish filmmakers Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein (Shelter) from a script by John Hlavin (”The Shield”). It arrives in theaters on Jan. 20, 2012.

Columbia Pictures has released the first official trailer for directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The sequel once again finds Nicolas Cage battling evil as stunt motorcyclist-turned-supernatural-vigilante Johnny Blaze, AKA Ghost Rider.

If watching Ghost Rider piss fire isn’t enough to get your interest, here’s the synopsis:

Johnny – still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter – is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds).

At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy – and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance also stars Christopher Lambert (Highlander), Johnny Whitworth (Limitless) and beautiful Italian actress/pop singer Violante Placido (The American). The film opens in 3-D on Feb. 17, 2012.

“30 Rock” star Katrina Bowden is set to show off her bedside manner in the upcoming Lionsgate frightener Nurse 3-D. Marketed as a psycho-sexual thriller, the film is directed by Douglas Aarniokoski (The Day) and stars “Boardwalk Empire’s” Paz de la Huerta as its homicidal head nurse Abby Russell.

Bowden, who recently wrapped Piranha 3-DD and can be seen in the hill-billy horror-comedy Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, will play a nurse who discovers that Abby is murdering male patients she believes are cheaters and liars.

Nurse 3-D rolls camera next month in Toronto.

The Emmy’s may have snubbed her this morning, but Paz de la Huerta delivered some of the best nude acting on television I have ever seen as Lucy Danziger (Nucky’s mistress) on HBO’s Prohibition-set drama “Boardwalk Empire.”

Hopefully, the oversight won’t keep de la Huerta from remaining fully committed to her craft. Otherwise, she may turn her gorgeous backside on such kink-fueled projects as Lionsgate’s upcoming masterpiece Nurse 3-D.

The 26-year-old stunner will play Abby Russell in the film, a beautiful and dedicated nurse who seduces and punishes men she deems as being wicked. Pictured above is our first look at de la Huerta in character. Though I prefer my nudity plain, the starlet’s blood soaked body still manages to catch my interest.

Nurse 3-D is set to shoot on Sept. 6 in Toronto. Douglas Aarniokoski (The Day) is directing.

Tania Raymonde, the 23-year-old star of ABC’s “LOST” and MTV’s new horror-comedy “Death Valley,” has scored a role in director John Luessenhop’s (Takers) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D. She joins costars Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson), Sue Rock (Varsity Blues), and Bill Moseley (Manson Girls).

A sequel of sorts, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D picks up after the horrific events depicted in Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original. Raymonde will play a small town girl named Nikki who joins her best friend Heather (Daddario) on a trip to claim an inheritance that gives Heather custody of her homicidal cousin Leatherface.

The buzz around pretty 25-year-old actress Alexandra Daddario just got louder. The star of last year’s fantasy-actioner Percy Jackson and the Olympians is in final negotiations to play the female lead in director John Luessenhop’s (Takers) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D, a reboot of the popular franchise.

A sequel of sorts, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D is said to pick up after the horrific events depicted in Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original and will reportedly find Daddario playing Leatherface’s cousin. Production on the film is set to start this month in Shreveport, La.

Daddario first cut her teeth in the horror genre with Mary Lambert’s (Pet Sematary) haunted house thriller The Attic, but it’s her intense performance in director Stevan Mena’s gruesome indie-slasher Bereavement that has made horror fans take note of the sexy New Yorker.

Dimension Films’ Piranha 3-DD, the first sequel to Alexandre Aja’s well-reviewed-but-dead-in-the-water Piranha 3-D, will surface in theaters across the country on Nov. 23. Directed by John Gulager (Feast), the film promises buckets of gore, gross-out humor, and gratuitous amounts of female nudity.

Danielle Panabaker is toplining the fish-&-chicks frightener, but those expecting to see the 23-year-old babe’s lures will be sorely disappointed. The selfish star of such films as The Crazies, Friday the 13th, and The Ward is all-tease-and-no-please in the otherwise raunchy flick.

Asked if she goes nude, she tells Fearnet:

No. Absolutely not. I do spend a fair amount of the movie in my bikini, though.

Thankfully, Hollywood is filled with selfless actresses not spoiled by success who know that their naked bodies can only elevate the artistic merit of any given project. A few of these angels apparently pick up Danielle Prudishbaker’s slack.

She says:

The movie takes place in a water park. My character’s step-father owns the park, and she is coming to work there over the summer. And fishy things start to happen!

There is lots of T&A. From my first scene, there is a lot of that going on, and it just continues throughout. It will not disappoint.

Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for the fifth installment in their always-fun fright franchise Final Destination. The film stars Emma Bell (”Walking Dead”), Nicholas D’Agosto (”Heroes”), David Koechner (Piranha 3-DD), Arlen Escarpeta (Friday the 13th), and Tony Todd (Candyman).

The cast also includes Canadian starlet Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (pictured above) in her horror film debut. The 24-year-old babe is best known for her roles as Steffy Forrester on the CBS soap “The Bold and the Beautiful” and Julie Gunn in Disney XD’s family sci-fi flick Skyrunners.

Final Destination 5 arrives in theaters on August 26. The film will play in standard and 3-D formats.
