Newcomer Jane Levy is set to replace Lily Collins as the female lead in Ghost House Pictures’ upcoming Evil Dead reboot, Deadline reports. Levy will play recovering overdose victim Mia, a character meant to replace original protagonist Ash Williams, famously played by the mighty Bruce Campbell.

Fede Alverez, an aspiring Uruguayan filmmaker who caught Raimi’s attention with an ambitious four-minute-plus sci-fi short entitled Panic Attack, is directing the remake from his own script, punched up by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body).

Levy is best known for her recurring role as Ian Gallagher’s girlfriend Mandy Milkovich on season two of Showtime’s “Shameless” and as daughter Tessa Altman on ABC’s family dramedy “Suburgatory.”

The Evil Dead reboot will be shot in New Zealand and is slated for release on April 12, 2013. Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) costars.

Professional dancer-turned-actress Rachele Brooke Smith is ready to tango with the devil. The Arizona-born stunner has joined writer/director Justin Price’s The Cloth, a horror-actioner starring Danny Trejo and Eric Roberts as priests fighting demonic possession …

… with shotguns and cool sci-fi gadgetry.

The very bendy Smith, whose dance skills have been featured in such fam-friendly productions as Bring It On: Fight to the Finish, Iron Man 2 (as an Ironette) and “Glee (the Britney Spears episode),” plays Julia, a possessed young woman who somehow still looks super hot.

Last Exorcism producer Eli Roth is promising an R-rated sequel for his 2010 sleeper hit about a priest who encounters a real demon-possessed soul while shooting a documentary meant to debunk exorcisms.

He tells Deadline:

The first film worked great as a PG-13 psychological film, but now we want to go R-rated and show the true horror of what this subject matter offers.

Obviously with the title of the first one, we had not planned on a sequel, but we love the story and subject matter and had what we feel is an inspired idea to continue it.

Production on the sequel is set to begin next month in New Orleans. The story will pick up three months after the events of the original and will find lead Ashley Bell reprising her role as the possessed Nell Sweetzer.

Helming the StudioCanal financed project will be Ed Gass-Donnelly (This Beautiful City) from a script by Damien Chazelle (Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench).

The Last Exorcism was produced for a little under $2 million and went on to earn over $65 million in worldwide coin.

The first season of the Canadian supernatural series “Lost Girl” is set to premiere tonight on Syfy. The show, which is currently heading into its third season, will introduce American audiences to Bo (Anna Silk), a beautiful woman who discovers she’s a succubus after inadvertently fucking her mates to death.

To remedy the situation, Bo opens a detective agency with BFF Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) and together they solve supernatural cases while investigating Bo’s origins. Things get complicated, however, when Bo develops romantic relationships with detective/werewolf Dyson (Kristen Holden-Ried) and sexy scientist Lauren (Zoie Palmer).

Lebanese actress Razane Jammal makes her feature film debut in Tobe Hooper’s Abu Dhabi-set supernatural thriller Djinn. The 24-year-old stunner plays an Emirati woman forced to return from America to her country by her husband, who is unaware that the new home that awaits them is built on cursed land.

She tells Rolling Stone:

You know, werewolves and vampires work really well in the West. In the East, it’s more about the djinn – everybody kind of fears them. So I really think that the movie is going to be a success, because it’s a topic that hasn’t really been talked about.

There’s a lot of local talent – it’s a real East meets West – it’s very interesting and it’s a very beautiful mix, and I think it’s going to work everywhere.

Djinn costars the gorgeous Aiysha Hart (in her movie debut), Malik McCall (Dreamcatcher) and Khalid Laith (The Devil’s Double) as Jammal’s husband. The ImageNation-produced film is Hooper’s first directorial effort since 2005’s Mortuary.

Former lesbian and “Hung” starlet Anne Heche is set to star in Nothing to Fear, a demonic thriller directed by Anthony Leonardi III for Slasher Films, the upstart genre studio founded by Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.

Nothing to Fear is the story of a pastor who moves his family to Stull, Kansas, one of the seven known gateways to hell, and watches as his daughters unleash the ultimate evil. The film is based on actual town folklore that claims the devil rises once every year from the local graveyard to walk the earth.

Costars include Willa Holland (Straw Dogs), Jennifer Stone (”Wizards of Waverly Place”), James Tupper (“Revenge”), and Rafi Gavrone (Mine Games). Production begins on February, 2012. The film is Slasher Films first production.

Heche has only starred in a handful of genre offerings, namely the 1997 disaster flick Volcano, the Kevin Williamson-penned I Know What You Did Last Summer, Gus Van Sant’s 1998 Psycho remake, Jonathan Glazer’s kinky psych-thriller Birth, and the 2008 outbreak thriller Toxic Skies.

Gorgeous model-turned-actress Julia Voth toplines director Sridhar Reddy’s Lilith, a modern day ode to Dante’s “Inferno.” The Canadian stunner plays Sarah Wilson, a woman who is led by the spirit of her dead sister to a seemingly abandoned building where each of its nine floors holds horrific revelations.

Personally, I’d watch Voth pick her nose on film (well, if she did so sensually and in slo-mo), but I gotta say this looks really good and genuinely creepy. Having a girl-on-girl make-out scene between Voth and South African model Bianca Christians Beck doesn’t hurt either.

Voth made her feature film debut as a not-what-she-seems downtrodden stripper named Trixie in director Rick Jacobson (“Spartacus: Blood and Sand”) girl-powered actioner Bitch Slap, a tongue-in-cheek  homage to the sexploitation flicks of yesteryear.

She is also said to be the character model for Jill Valentine in the 2002 Resident Evil game for Nintendo’s GameCube.

A teaser trailer for writer/director Marc Leland’s upcoming slasher She Wolf Rising has been unleashed and is now ready to piss all over your shoes. The film stars genre babe Tiffany Shepis (pictured above) as a scream queen lured into the seedy world of underground filmmaking.

Former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star and Playboy cover model (July, 2000) Charisma Carpenter is set to star in the Syfy original Haunted High. The 40-year-old stunner will play a sexy librarian at a New England private school overrun by demonic forces.

Carpenter joins a cast that includes M.C. Gainey (Mr. Friendly on “LOST”) as the school’s demon headmaster and everyone’s favorite Mexi-can Danny Trejo as its ass-kicking janitor. Marc Donato (“Degrassi: Next Generation”) and Jonathan Baron (Shadow People) costar as students.

Carpenter most recently starred in Jason Bourque’s survival-frightener Crash Site and Hanelle Culpepper’s psyche-thriller Deadly Sibling Rivalry, in which she plays twins. She is, of course, best known for her role as bratty-babe-turned-vamp-killer Cordelia Chase on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and its spinoff “Angel.”

Carpenter will reunite with “Buffy” alum James Marsters on the fifth episode of the seventh season of The CW’s “Supernatural,” premiering on Sept. 23. Entitled “Shut Up, Dr. Phil,” the episode finds Carpenter playing a witch scorned by her husband (Marsters).

Haunted High is directed by Jeffrey Lando (Thirst) and is currently being shot in New Orleans.
