Should you choose the horror bundle, expect to find the ’90s influenced psycho-bitch thriller Playing House, starring a very sexy and naked Mayra Leal (Machete), and the intense and gruesome slasher Beware.

ABC Studios and auction house Profiles in History netted over $1.8 million at this weekend’s “Lost: The Official Show Auction and Exhibit,” held at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, CA. Fans of the Emmy-winning show bid on such iconic items as John Locke’s wheelchair ($3,250), Hurley’s Lotto Ticket ($5,500), Faraday’s Journal ($27,500), and a Dharma Initiative VW Van ($47,500).

Mrs. Muertos and I, along with our good friend Girard from Hills of Woodland, pooled our money together in the hopes of purchasing Jack’s beard, but were sadden to find it was one of the very few items not available for sale. But, hey, we probably wouldn’t have been able to afford it anyway. Despite the event’s “everyone can own a piece of the show” PR spin, the majority of props, costumes, and set pieces went for well over two grand.

Fortunately, there was still plenty to do for broke-ass “LOST” fans. The exhibit part of the event included displays of the items up for auction, screenings of BTS footage from the show’s upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release, and photo ops on “LOST” inspired sets built to resemble Oceanic Airlines, the Hatch, Mr. Cluck’s Chicken Shack, and the Temple.

Activities included a “LOST” costume contest—which drew three Kates, one La Fleur, a Dharma polar bear, a bikini-clad Other, and an overweight Russo—and a pre-auction raffle which gave away “LOST” season six DVDs and Blu-rays, T-shirts, bobble-heads, and advanced copies of DK’s “LOST” Encyclopedia (a must-have). Forty-two lucky attendees also won a chance to catch a preview of the 12-minute epilogue “New Man in Charge.”

Disappointingly, neither the show’s creators nor its cast attended the event. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. Daniel Roebuck (Dr. Leslie Artz) and Sterling Beaumon (Young Ben Linus) were on hand to sign autographs, but that’s not exactly Evangeline Lilly (Kate Austin) or Josh Holloway (James “Sawyer” Ford). Hell, it’s not even Vincent.

As for the rest of the auction, notable sales included Sawyer’s Letter to the Man Who Murdered His Parents ($6,500), Charlie’s Drive Shaft ring ($9,000), the Swan Station Hatch Door ($16,000), Hurley’s Camaro ($24,000), Walt’s Spanish Green Lantern Comic ($1,400), Locke’s Suicide Note to Jack ($9,000), Mr. Eko’s Staff ($8000), Sun’s Blue Bikini ($1,200), and the time-shifting Donkey Wheel ($22,500).

“LOST” is nominated this year for 12 Emmys, including nods for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for lead Matthew Fox (Jack Shepard), and Outstanding Supporting Actor for both Michael Emerson (Benjamin Linus) and Terry o’Quinn (John Locke).

Universal Studios Hollywood will open the doors to Rob Zombie’s “House of a 1000 Corpses” at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights, running Sept. 24th-thru-Oct. 31st. Though the theme park has yet to officially announce any of attractions scheduled for the annual event, Zombie has already spilled the beans on the 3-D maze inspired by his 2003 feature film directorial debut.

He tells NoiseCreep:

Universal is doing it in 3D, so you’ll wear glasses as you go through,” Zombie said. “And they’re doing full makeups on everybody in the house and all of the characters from the movie. It’s gonna be pretty amazing.

When you think about it, it’s pretty cool and ironic since that’s the studio that originally made the movie, but never released it. And now we’re back in the park doing this attraction. But it’s great and they’re putting a lot of work into it, so it’s going to be really awesome.

Universal Studios Hollywood and Zombie are also sponsoring the “Halloween Horror Nights – Rob Zombie Film Competition.” The winner of the contest will have their short-film premiered on Chiller TV, collect a $1000, and receive a trip for two to the opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood (click here for more info).

Universal Studios Hollywood and director/rocker Rob Zombie are urging all aspiring horror filmmakers to enter their scariest short in the “Halloween Horror Nights – Rob Zombie Film Competition.” The winner will have their film premiere on Chiller TV, collect a $1000, and receive a trip for two to the opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Entries must be submitted on DVD and be anywhere from 90-seconds to 3-minutes long (sorry, guys, sex videos with your wife/girlfriend don’t count, no matter how short and frightening).

The “Halloween Horror Nights – Rob Zombie Film Competition” offers filmmakers an opportunity to have their scariest short film judged by a panel led by the multi-media horror auteur, rewarded with a premiere showing on Chiller TV, a posting on SyFy.com, a $1,000 cash prize and a trip for two to the opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Contest entries will be accepted from July 7 through August 14, 2010. Prospective filmmakers are invited to submit short films from 90 seconds to three minutes in length on DVD (two copies of each film must be submitted). Selected films will be judged by Rob Zombie, members of Universal Studios Hollywood’s “Halloween Horror Nights” team and horror industry professionals. Criteria will be storytelling skill, originality and the degree of a “good scare.” The top 10 shorts will be posted online at Halloween Horror Nights from September 3–17, 2010 for public voting.

The winning film will be announced on September 17. In addition to the prize and the broadcast of the film, the winning filmmaker will be honored in front of celebrities, studio executives and media at the Eyegore Awards ceremony, which will kick off the 2010 Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The Syfy network, known for such outrageous fare as Dinocroc vs. Supergator and Mongolian Death Worm, has got a message for its detractors: Put up or shut up.

The network is teaming up with entertainment website IGN to launch B Movie Mogul, an interactive movie-making site designed to give users the opportunity to create a Syfy original Saturday night creature feature (to be aired next year).

Executive vp of programming Thomas Vitale explains:

We constantly have fans e-mailing with compliments, complaints and questions about our movies, and this is a way of involving the fans in a new way. This is where entertainment is going and just the start of many more things of this nature for Syfy.

Visitors to the site can pitch and vote on various aspects of the film making process, including its title, dialogue, creature design, wardrobe, death scenes, and marketing.

B Movie Mogul launches on Friday, June 25.  First order of business will be to decide on one of the following themes: Apocalypse, aliens, or monsters.

Universal Studios Orlando held a grand-opening celebration for its new $200 million-plus attraction The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on Wednesday night. The event included a fireworks display over Hogwarts castle set to music from all six Harry Potter films, performed live by legendary composer John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws) and the Orlando Symphony Orchestra.

Among the franchise suits in attendance were the film’s stars Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, Michael Gambon, Mathew Lewis, twins Oliver and James Phelps, Warwick Davis, and Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter features attractions, shops, and restaurants themed after the Potter films.

Rides include the Dragon Challenge, a twin high-speed roller coaster set to a Triwizard Tournament backdrop, Flight of the Hippogriff, a family coaster set to simulate a Hippogriff training flight over Hogwarts Castle, and the state-of-the-art interactive attraction Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, located inside Hogwarts castle.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens to the public on June 18.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is sponsoring an interactive Avatar exhibit today at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles. The event is designed to promote the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of the blockbuster film, available on April 22 (Earth Day).

A 60′-X-10′ structure featuring three morphing stations will capture attendee’s images through state-of-the-art facial-recognition technology and transform them into blue, giant Na’vi tribes-people. A video of the transformation is then emailed to users who provide an email address.

The exhibit kicks off today at 2 p.m. All those who don’t have a job, a girlfriend, or a vagina between their legs are encouraged to attend. Personally, I’ll wait for the cutting-edge technology that will transform my life into that of stupidly-rich asshole James Cameron.

Avatar is the highest earning film of all time and sparked the 3-D craze that has given theater owners the gall to raise prices on 3-D showings.

LatinoReview has printed a letter reportedly sent to Universal Pictures by Twi-hard fan Kayla Patterson who accuses the studio of ripping off The Twilight Saga: New Moon werewolf character for their own lycan feature The Wolfman (a remake of Universal’s 1941 monster-movie classic).

Patterson takes Universal to task for turning werewolves into a “deformed mutation of a rabid dog” and scoffs at the ludicrous idea that they can be killed with silver bullets. The upset tween goes on to mock The Wolfman for its failure to beat Valentine’s Day at the box office and points out that Twilight’s Taylor Lautner is the only true and original wolfman.

This movie was a complete waste and I feel that it offends ALL Twilight Fans around the world, that including myself. For one, it was a COMPLETE remakingof the Wolf Pack from the Twilight Saga: New Moon. It gives the werewolves a bad name and makes them look like some deformed mutation of a rabid dog. I actually started to like werewolves after seeing Jacob Black and all his awesomeness on the big screen at the movies.

That was until I saw your crappy remake of what you call to be a “were wolf”. I don’t see how you live with yourself for making it the way you did. If I made this movie, I would be ashamed to even admit that I owned it. How can a werewolf be killed with a silver bullet*? Better yet, have you saw the transformation of the man that is “supposed” to be the wolf? He sits in some chair and his entire body turns in to some mutated freak.

If you would watch the transformation of Jacob Black, (Taylor Lautner) he doesn’t come close to looking as fake, cheap and or mutated as the wolf man.  You tell me, who looks to be the better werewolf. Your stupid Wolf Movie didn’t even make the top Movie for the charts; Valentines Day WITH TAYLOR Lautner! Producer and geek messiah Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse) is teaming up with documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) to capture the lives of hardcore Comic-Con fans … or, in other words, to make the world’s most boring documentary.

A source for the creative duo tells E! Entertainment:

They want to follow people for about three months leading up to this year’s Comic-Con. And then they want to film them there. They’re looking at all types of people.

Personally, I just don’t see how filming a group of fat guys in Avatar body paint not getting laid will make for a good movie.

For those of you with jobs, girlfriends, and/or vaginas, the San Diego Comic-Con is the biggest entertainment convention in the States for fans of comics and sci-fi/fantasy/horror films. The event sells out early every year.
