Actress Marley Shelton is off to Ann Arbor, Michigan to take on a new Ghostface killer and replace starlet Lake Bell in director Wes Craven’s now-shooting Scream 4. Shelton will play a deputy sheriff who knew Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) back in high school.

The sexy 36-year-old blonde knows a thing or two about scary movies.

She has starred in such brutal frighteners as last year’s Milla Jovovich vehicle A Perfect Getaway, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse mash-up, Rodriguez’s own Sin City, and Warner Bros. 2001 revenge-slasher Valentine.

Scream 4 is written by original franchise scribe Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries”) and costars Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Adam Brody, Erik Knudsen, Nico Tortorella, and old-schoolers Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Araquette.

“Gilmore Girl” Lauren Graham had signed on to star in the film as well, but is now rumored to have backed out.

Scream 4 will be in theaters on April 15, 2011.

Director Tim Sullivan has released the “final beyond red band trailer” for his upcoming hillbilly horror show 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, available on DVD on July 20. The clip features more blood, more boobs, and more barnyard sex.

Milf of the macabre Elvira is jiggling her way back to the boob tube. The 58-year-old horror icon (played by Cassandra Peterson) announced on her “B-Log” that she will once again host “Elvira’s Movie Macabre,” the show that launched her career in 1981.

“Elvira’s Movie Macabre” featured the Mistress of the Dark ripping on low-budget D-grade horror such as The Devil’s Wedding Night, The Werewolf of Washington, and blaxploitation classic Blackula.

The “Movie Macabre” reboot will be syndicated nationally this fall (check local listings for channels and times) and feature all-new episodes.

Like the machines she fought on the canceled-much-to-soon Fox series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” Summer Glau won’t be kept down. The 28-year-old actress has signed on to star in director Joe Lynch’s horror-comedy Knights of Badassdom.

Glau will play a member of a live action role-playing group who accidentally unleash a powerful demon from the depths of hell. “True Blood’s” Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn (Perfect Getaway), Danny Pudi (”Community”), and Peter Dinklage (Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) costar.

The film goes into production next month in Spokane, Washington. Spectral Motion (Hellboy, X-Men) will handle creature F/X.

Glau can also been seen as a crime-fighting blogger on NBC’s upcoming superhero series “The Cape.”

Colin Farrell is set to star opposite milfy Toni Collette in DreamWorks’ upcoming Fright Night reboot. The 33-year-old Irish actor will play the part of Jerry Dandridge, the suave vampire who moves in next door to geeky horror fan Charley Brewster’s (Anton Yelchin) house to feed on fresh meat and fuck his mom.

Farrell can be seen in the fantasy-themed features The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and Neil Jordan’s soon-to-be released Ondine, but Fright Night marks his first foray into horror.

Collette, who plays Charlie’s mom, currently headlines Showtime’s “The United States of Tara.” She also starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense.

The original Fright Night was a hit in 1985 and is included on Clatto’s list of 15 Vampire Movies That Won’t Make You Gay.

Vancouver-based Twisted Twins Productions have released a new trailer for their quirky thrill-kill comedy Dead Hooker in a Trunk. Written and directed by studio heads Jen and Sylvia Soska, the film follows four friends on a ridiculously complicated quest to dispose of the body of the dead prostitute they find in their car.

The official synopsis reads:

Set in beautiful Vancouver, four friends head out on an everyday errand and end up in a fight for their lives when they discover the body of a dead hooker left in their trunk. Led by a sexy, impulsive Badass; her distant Geek twin sister; their Bible-thumping, Jesus-loving Goody Two-Shoes friend; and a chaotic, rock star Junkie pal, the group has to put aside their differences to dispose of the body before they’re next.

Thrown into their own personal purgatory, they face off against persistent police, a sleazy motel manager, chainsaw-wielding triads, and a brutal serial killer. All the while they are followed by a mysterious Cowboy Pimp who wants to claim the corpse for his own. Will they uncover the truth behind the body and be able to stand up to their demons?

Buckle up, and get ready for the ride of your life filled with gunfights, extreme violence, blood, guts, gore, and goats.

Like the Avellan sisters, Jen and Sylvia Soska are actual twins. How that fact makes this flick better I don’t know, yet it does.

They used to be triplets.

No word yet on when or if this film will hit theaters.

Former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Nicholas Brendon has been charged with four misdemeanors after attempting to fight off cops during an alcohol-fueled night of disorderly conduct in Venice, California last month (click here for that story).

The charges include vandalism, resisting arrest, and two counts of battery against a police officer. He faces up to two years in jail and $4,000 in fines if convicted.

Unlike Sarah Michelle Gellar (The Grudge) and Eliza Dushku (”Dollhouse”), both of whom continue to work despite a string of failed projects, Brendon’s lack of breasts and vaginal talents have doomed him to a soul-killing career in such straight-to-DVD crap as Blood on the Highway, available June 29.

Maybe this flick could be used in Brendon’s defense. It’s easy to see why he would want to break something after starring in it. I’m sure, if he had a home, he would have broken his own stuff.

Brendon played lovable dork Xander on “Buffythe Vampire Slayer” from 1997 to 2003.

Sigourney Weaver has signed on to star opposite Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter in writer/director Amy Heckerling’s vampire rom-com Vamps. Weaver will play the vampire queen responsible for turning Silverstone and Ritter’s characters into bloodsuckers.

I’m not sure what’s brought on Hollywood’s fascination with the older woman/younger girl dynamic (see Amanda Seyfried Dykes Out with Julianne Moore), but I’m digging it—although, not so much in this case.

Vamps centers on two New York based BFF vampires (Silverstone, Ritter) whose friendship and immortality is threaten when they each discover love. The film reunites Silverstone with her Clueless director.

Vamps is slated to begin production in April.

Actress Sigourney Weaver first spilled the beans on Ivan Reitman’s plans to shoot Ghostbusters 3 back in December (read here). Among the details the actress told the UK’s Channel 4 News was that Bill Murray would return to the franchise as a ghost.

Murray recently confirmed Weaver’s announcement during an interview with MailOnSunday.

The actor says:

I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.

I’m not a 45-year-old pot-smoking hippie so I’ve never really found Murray to be funny. I think Stripes, Groundhog Day, and Lost in the Translation all sucked donkey balls. I will admit, however, that Murray’s performance in the Farrelly Bros. Kingpin comedy was sheer genius.

If you’re a fan of NBC’s over-hyped sitcom “30 Rock,” you will recognize actress Katrina Bowden as scantly-clad assistant Cerie Xerox. Those of us who find a bowl of turds more amusing than Tina Fey and company, however, are just getting to know the 21-year-old star, namely through her roles in 2009’s survival-frightener The Shortcut and this year’s horror-comedy Tucker and Dale VS. Evil (see picture above).

Tucker and Dale premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and quickly acquired a Canadian distribution deal through Maple Pictures. No word yet on who will be handling U.S. distribution.

Bowden stars in the film as a sexy coed who is rescued by the film’s affable hillbillies during a swimming accident.

In an interview with WickedInfo, Bowden described the film as follows:

Tucker and Dale is an exciting, unique movie that was really fun to be a part of. It’s about two lovable friends who get mistaken as evil crazy “hillbillies” by a group of young college kids when they take a camping trip. My character gets rescued by the two locals when there is a swimming accident – although Tucker and Dale are sweet kind-hearted guys, through the eyes of my friends they seem like evil killers. And similarly, through the eyes of Tucker and Dale, my friends seem crazed and violent. Therefore it turns into a kind of cat-and-mouse scenario with cool special effects and funny back and forth between the “eyes” of both groups.

Along with Bowden, Tucker and Dale VS. Evil stars “Firefly’s” Alan Tudyk and “Reapers” Tyler Labine, as the titular heroes Tucker and Dale, Chelan Simmons (Final Destination 3), Brandon Jay McLaren (“Harper’s Island”), Christie Laing (Scary Movie 4), and Sasha Craig (Dark Wolf).
