Kaley-Cuoco-Shorts

‘Big Bang” starlet Kaley Cuoco is set to star opposite Rob Lowe in Lifetime’s upcoming based-on-a-true-story murder mystery The Drew Peterson Story: Aka Ladykiller. Peterson is a 57-year-old former police sergeant currently awaiting trial for the 2004 murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio. He is also the prime suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy.

Cuoco has been cast to play 23-year-old Stacy Peterson. Stacy, who went missing in October of 2007, has yet to be found and is believed to be dead. Her mysterious disappearance led detectives to reopen the Kathleen Savio case, which up until last year had been ruled an accidental death (bathtub drowning). After exhuming Savio’s body, it was determined that she had been murdered after a struggle.

Lowe will portray Drew Peterson, who commented to his lawyer today:

If I was ever in a movie, I was hoping I would be portrayed by Denzel Washington, but I guess Rob Lowe is OK.

Peterson is being held on $20 million and resides at the Will County Jail in Illinois.

The Drew Peterson Story: Aka Ladykiller is based on Herald News reporter Joseph Hosey’s book “Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Drew Peterson.” It’s adapted for the small screen by Teena Booth, who wrote a Lifetime movie on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.

Cuoco currently plays love interest Penny on the CBS sitcom “The Big Bang.” She also starred as jailbait John Ritter’s daughter, Bridgette Hennessy, on ABC’s “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.”
