Redheaded stunner Karen Gillan, of Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji fame, has been tapped to play the female lead in Blasphemous, a supernatural thriller from first-time director Luke Piotrowski, writer of The Night House and 2022’s LGBT Hellraiser.
Gillan plays a hot demon-possessed chick being transported to a secret location for an exorcism by a rookie priest and his mentor. Things take a wrong when she escapes. The film is described as The Exorcist meets Training Day. Here’s hoping Gillan gets her shit pushed in by the priests!
Gillan, who got her big break on the BBC sci-fi series “Dr. Who,” made her American feature film debut in Mike Flanagan’s supernatural thriller Oculus. The following year she was cast in degenerate James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy as Thanos adopted daughter Nebula.
Along with co-starring as Nebula in a grip of Marvel flicks, she also stars alongside Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black in Sony’s revamped Jumanji franchise. Up next for Gillan is another fandom favorite series—Amazon/MGM Studios new Highlander film.
