The cast has been revealed for “Sense8,” a new Netflix sci-fi series created by screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski (“Babylon 5,” Underworld: Awakening) and produced by the Wachowskis (The Matrix). The show follows eight strangers mysteriously connected mentally and emotionally after a tragic event.

The eight will be played by Tuppence Middleton (Trance), Doona Bae (Cloud Atlas), Brian J. Smith (“SGU Stargate Universe”), Aml Ameen (Maze Runner), Miguel Silvestri, Max Riemelt (We Are the Night), Jamie Clayton and Bollywood stunner Tena Desae (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel).

Straczynski told Deadline:

The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally. They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets.

Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.

“Sense8” is a 10-episode series spanning nine locations on four continents: Chicago, San Francisco, London, Iceland, Seoul, Mumbai, Berlin, Mexico City and Nairobi. Co-stars include Naveen Andrews (“LOST”), Freema Agyeman (“Dr. Who”), Alfonso Herrera (“El Diez”), Erendira Ibarra (“Capadocia”), and Terrence Mann (Critters), and Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill).

Rosario Dawson is set to star in Marvel’s new “Daredevil” series for Netflix. Dawson joins a cast that includes Charlie Cox (“Boardwalk Empire”) as blind attorney turned superhero Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as his nemesis Kingpin.

In the 13-episode series, Dawson plays a beautiful, large-breasted woman aiding the downtrodden in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen. Her commitment to those filthy miscreants leads to a fateful encounter with Murdock’s Daredevil alter ego.

Dawson, who made her acting debut in Larry Clark’s fucked up indie drama Kids, has starred in a string of notable genre offerings, including Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City, Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, Barry Sonnenfeld’s Men in Black II, D.J. Caruso’s Eagle Eye, and Danny Boyle’s Trance, in which she performs one of the most memorable, eye-popping fully nude scenes ever.

Dawson will next be seen in Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, in theaters Aug. 22.

Film Movement has set a July 25 VOD and limited theatrical release date for Spanish filmmaker Manuel Martin Cuebca’s Cannibal, an erotically charged tale about a coldblooded cannibal (Antonio de la Torre) who is suddenly hungry for love when he meets a tasty new morsel (Olimpia Melinte).

The synopsis:

Carlos is the most prestigious tailor in Granada, but he’s also a murderer in the shadows. He feels no remorse, no guilt, until Nina appears in his life.

“Teen Wolf” starlet Bianca Lawson is joining the cast of Lifetime’s “Witches of East End” when it returns for season two July 6. The show is an adaptation of the 2011 Melissa de la Cruz bestseller centered on a family of witches.

“Witches of East End” follows Joanna Beauchamp (Julia Ormond), a small-town art teacher who when faced with a dangerous threat to her family reveals to her two adult daughters that they were born witches. Lawson will play warlock Killian Gardiner’s new love interest, Eva.

Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin arrives on Blu-ray next month. The sci-fi drama is an adaptation of Michel Faber’s debut novel about an alien disguised as a busty woman out to seduce and trap the men of earth as food for her species.

Scarlett Johansson makes her nude debut as the slutty and voracious alien. Unfortunately, the film blows arthouse donkey dicks, making it a challenge to sit through. FFing should make a difference, but should you not want to have your hands busy with a remote, Mr. Skin has released nude shots from the movie.

Disney and Lucasfilm have tapped writer and director Rian Johnson to direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. Johnson, who made his acclaimed directorial debut with 2005’s neo-noir high school crime thriller Brick, wowed critics and sci-fi fans alike with 2012’s time-travel thriller Looper.

According to Deadline, Johnson will also pen and direct Star Wars: Episode IX, the final chapter in the new trilogy. Johnson is the latest filmmaker to join the Star Wars franchise.

J.J. Abrams is currently shooting Star Wars: Episode VII from a script he wrote with Empire Strikes Back scribe Lawrence Kasden. It arrives in theaters Dec. 18, 2015. Unnamed standalone entries in the Saga are being directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and Josh Trank (Chronicle).

Emma Dumont (“Bunheads”) is set to star in NBC’s new 13-episode event series “Aquarius.” The show follows a Los Angeles police sergeant (David Duchovny) in the 1960’s investigating a young hooligan and charismatic cult leader named… Charles Manson (Gethin Anthony).

Dumont plays young Emma Karn, one of Manson’s recruits whose father is embroiled in the cult leader’s “far-reaching conspiracy.” Dumont is best known for playing Melanie Segal on ABC Family’s short-lived dramedy series “BunHeads.”

“Aquarius” is written by John McNamara (In Plain Sight) and executive produced by Duchovny.

CBS has released a trailer for upcoming fall show “Stalker,” a psychological thriller from producer Kevin Williamson (“The Following,” “Vampire Diaries”), starring Dylan McDermott (“American Horror Story”) and Maggie Q (“Nikita”).

McDermott and Q star as detectives of the Los Angeles Threat Assessment Unit, working extreme stalking and cyber harassment cases for the LAPD. McDermott is a NYPD transfer with a pervy past, and Q is a one-time victim of a pervy perpetrator.

“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke will face off against evil spirits in first-time director Eric D. Howell’s Voice From the Stone, an adaptation of Silvio Raffo’s award-winning Italian novel La Voce Della Pietra. The Code 39 Films and Zanuck Independent production will shoot in Italy this November.

Written by Andrew Shaw, Voice From the Stone is set in 1950’s and stars Clarke as a nurse helping a young boy cope with the sudden and traumatic death of his mother, but tormented by a malevolent force in the boy’s family castle.

Clarke is best known for playing Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” She will next be seen in the iconic role of Sarah Connor in Paramount Pictures’ new Terminator reboot Terminator: Genesis.

This new featurette for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes fills us in on the 10 year gap that has gone by since the Simian Flu outbreak first caught on in 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. 20th Century Fox releases the eagerly awaited sequel July 11.
