Logan Lerman is either a big fat liar or a clever self promoter. The 18-year-old tween-idol told entertainment reporter Billy Bush that he was in the running for the role of Peter Parker in Sony Pictures’ recently announced Spiderman-in-high-school reboot. Sony, however, denies Lerman’s claims.
During an interview with Access Hollywood, Lerman told Bush:
There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it. It’s just, you know, conversations are starting. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course. I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.
Lerman’s announcement quickly set the internet abuzz.
Sony, in response, released the following statement:
No offers have been made, nor have any business discussions been made with Lerman.
So was Lerman just talking out of his ass or was he getting his name out there to promote his upcoming fantasy-epic Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief? I’m not sure, but I gotta admit—that Percy Jackson (hate the title) looks pretty damn entertaining.
