Producer/director Michael Bay shut down parts of Michigan Avenue in Chicago this weekend to roll camera on a massive car accident scene from his upcoming blockbuster Transformers 3. The street, which is located in the city’s downtown, will open up again on Monday morning.

For the most part, citizens seemed to enjoy the destruction on display and dropped by the set to take pictures.

Transformers 3 stars Shia LaBeouf, John Malkovich, model-turned-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in her first movie role), Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, Ken Jeong (the naked Asian guy from The Hangover), Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, and “Firefly’s” Alan Tudyk.
