Universal Pictures held the world premiere for director Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens at Comic-Con last night at the San Diego Civic Theatre. Joining Favreau for the festivities were the film’s stars Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford (with wife Calista Flockhart, aka Ally McBeal), Abigail Spencer, Sam Rockwell, and sexy senorita Ana De La Regera.
Also seen at the hootenanny were geek-dream Olivia Munn, Yvonne Strahovski (“Chuck”), Nina Dobrev (“Vampire Diaries”), Seth Green with actress wife Clare Grant, Kaitlin Olson (“Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), Gillian Jacobs and Joel McHale (“Community), Candace Bailey (“Robot Chicken”) and Cowboy producers Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard.
Joe Roth, producer of Universal Pictures’ soon-to-start-shooting Snow White and the Huntsman, describes the Rupert Sanders-directed project as being a “tough, rough male and female action movie” on the scale of Lord of the Rings.
The film finds Kristen Stewart (Twilight Saga) playing Snow White as a brooding warrior-princess caught in a love triangle with two dwarfs—or something like that. I just really hope the movie isn’t so hardcore that they can’t include a scene in which cute woodland critters help Snow White put on her armor.
Snow White and the Huntsman costars Charlize Theron as the Queen, Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman, and Sam Claflin as the Prince. Images of the actors in costume were revealed at Comic-Con, but you can peep them right here:
IndieVest premiered a trailer for director Joe Lynch’s (Wrong Turn 2) new horror-comedy Knights of Badassdom at Comic-Con this weekend. The film follows a group of LARPers (Live Action Role Players) terrorized by a sexy succubus inadvertently conjured up during game play.
Knights of Badassdom stars Summer Glau (”Firefly”), Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), Steve Zahn (The Getaway), Danny Pudi (”Community”), and Margarita Levieva (Adventureland). Distribution for the project has yet to be announced.
Kate Beckinsale returned to Comic-Con this year in a big way. The British stunner performed double duty on Friday, promoting two of Sony’s most eagerly anticipated projects: Underworld 4: Awakening and Total Recall, a remake of the 1990 Paul Verhoeven sci-fi classic that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
While most starlets rely on promo trailers and footage reels to whip fans into a frenzy during their panels, Beckinsale went the extra mile by showing off some serious legs in a short belted black dress and black Marcella satin pumps.
Underworld 4: Awakening will be in theaters on Jan. 20, 2012. Total Recall is slated for release in August of 2012.
