Re-Animator-Musical-500x333

Stuart Gordon’s “Re-Animator: The Musical” will end its run at the Hayworth Theater in Downtown, Los Angeles on June 3. Adapted from Gordon’s beloved 1985 film, the production follows the grisly havoc caused by med school students Herbert West and Dan Cain after they set out to reanimate human corpses.

The show which was recently named Musical of the Year at the LA Weekly Theater Awards, reunites Gordon with Re-Animator writers Dennis Paoli and William J. Norris and FX artists John Buechler and Anthony Doublin. The result is a love song for fans of the classic film.

Mrs. Muertos and I caught the musical last year when it played at the Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood and had a total blast. The songs are funny and, best of all, catchy (“I Give Life” and “Basement” are especially fun). The cast is a treat to watch, especially Graham Skipper in the role of West.

Juno-Temple-Riley-Keough-Lesbian-Poster

Magnolia Pictures has released a first look clip from its upcoming Sapphic werewolf thriller Jack & Diane. The scene finds leads Juno Temple and Riley Keough (Elvis Presley’s granddaughter) parting ways with a smooch after spending a hot lesbian night together.

Jack and Diane follows Jack (Keough), a harden New York City dyke, as she attempts to keep her latest out-of-town conquest Diane (Temple) from leaving. What Jack doesn’t know is that Diane’s lesbian-awakening has unleashed her animalistic nature.

Sadly, the Bradley Rust Gray-directed film is more haughty arthouse drama than campy thriller so Keough is made up to look like Elvis Presley’s grandson. However, it did get an R-rating for nudity so there’s that.

Jack and Diane arrives on VOD on Sept. 28 and in theaters for a limited run on Nov. 2.
