“True Blood” leads Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer visit with Brian Geraghty and “Battlestar Galactica” hottie Tricia Helfer in Lionsgate’s upcoming straight-to-DVD home-invasion thriller Open House. The film marks the directorial debut of Anna’s brother Andrew Paquin, a producer on last year’s Renee Zellweger vehicle New in Town and his sister’s 2007 rom-com Blue State.

Open House stars Geraghty and Helfer as homicidal house squaters taking up residence at an open house. Anna has been cast as a friend to the homeowner, played by Rachel Blanchard (pictured above), who is taken captive early on by the killers. Moyer’s role appears to be that of a guy with a butcher knife in his neck.

Andrew tells indieWire :

I have always loved movies as long as I can remember but growing up mainly in New Zealand it never really seemed like a viable career path. But after my sister Anna [Paquin] won an Academy Award for “The Piano” my eyes were opened.

My first foray into the film world was working in development and then as a producer. Writing was something I did on the side. But the more time I spent on set the more I realized I wanted to try directing. “Open House” is my first go at it.

I am very proud of the performances from my actors. I think they have all done an amazing job. And I think both Brian Geraghty and Tricia Helfer manage to create sympathetic characters despite the fact that they do terrible, evil things.

I think that people who go in to the film expecting to see a horror movie like any other will be pleasantly surprised to find it is, I hope, much more.

I once tried to get my sister to do a movie for me, but it never happened. But, that’s OK. I’m still friends with the eight naked black guys I had hired for the shoot.
