Kiefer Sutherland in Talks to ‘Growl’ with Katee Sackhoff!

kiefer

Kiefer Sutherland is in talks to join his “24” costar Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Galactica”) in director Sxv’leithan Essex’s (pronounced: douche-bag) feature film debut Growl.

The film revolves around a group of underground brawlers who meet their match when they encounter a family of werewolves while traveling through a ghost town in the Colorado Rockies.

Essex explains to ShockTillYouDrop:

It’s Fight Club versus werewolves. Two of my favorite things thrown in the ring to see what will come out alive.

But what I love most about it is its completely character driven. I started writing and wanting to direct after seeing Aliens in theaters and how James Cameron made you care about the characters who would eventually be in peril.

I love the characters in Growl like they are my family and it sucks to have to kill some of them off. But they do die some glorious deaths.

Growl is currently shooting in Los Angeles. The film costars Jennifer Lee Wiggins (Bled), Josh Kelly (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Paul Bean, and Mark Sherman.

Sutherland, meanwhile, is wrapping up director Lars Von Trier’s (Antichrist) end-of-the-world sci-fi thriller Melancholia with costar Kirsten Dunst.

The 43-year-old actor’s notable genre creds include Alex Proyas’ surreal sci-fi-thriller Dark City, Alexandre Aja’s Mirrors, D.J. Caruso’s Taking Lives, the 1993 remake of The Vanishing, and, of course, Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys.

Sutherland also turns in a memorably deranged performance in Mathew Bright’s twisted Little Red Riding Hood re-imagining entitled Freeway (a must-see).

Milla Jovovich tweeted a very special valentine to fans of Sony Screen Gems’ insanely popular Resident Evil franchise.

She tweets:

So to answer many of your questions in one fell swoop, yes! The gorgeous and talented Sienna Guillory is back as Jill Valentine in RE4!!!

Guillory first played Jill Valentine in 2004’s Resident Evil: Apocalypse, her first lead role in a major American film. Other creds include New Line Cinema’s fantasy-adventure Inkheart, 20th Century Fox’s dragon-thriller Eragon, indie-frightener Superstitious, and Warner Bros’ adaptation of H.G. Wells’ ‘The Time Machine.

Prepare to Ogle Newbie Olga Fonda in DreamWorks’ ‘Real Steel’

Olga_Fonda2

TV actress Olga Fonda (“Entourage,” “Nip/Tuck”) has been cast in DreamWorks’ upcoming sci-fi-actioner (and terribly named) Real Steel. She joins a cast that include Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lily, Anthony Mackie, Hope Davis, James Rebhorn, and Kevin Durand.

Real Steel stars Hugh Jackman as a former boxer-turned-fight-promoter who reunites with his estranged 11-year-old son to build a robot to compete in a robot-boxing tournament. The film is set in the future where human boxing matches are no longer legal and have been replaced by combating machines.

No word on what role Fonda plays, but the film is one of two high-profile projects for the sexy upstart (Little Fockers is the other).

Real Steel is directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum). It swings into theaters on Nov. 18, 2011.

Victoria’s Secret has released a video congratulating its model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on scoring the female lead in director Michael Bay’s Transformers 3. Whiteley replaces Megan Fox as Shia LaBeouf’s love interest in the film.

I’m getting the feeling that Transformers 3 is going to look like an underwear commercial with Chevy trucks. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Maybe even Labeouf will like this entry in the blockbuster franchise.

Transformers 3 is currently in production.

Say whatcha will about Tom Cruise, but the couch-hopping, Scientology-loving, non-aging megastar stole Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Jack Black’s (Tropic) Thunder in 2008. Now, he’s reprising the role of foul-mouthed Hollywood mogul Les Grossman in a series of MTV Movie Awards promos.

The latest spot finds Grossman spitting mad truth to Twilight Saga star Robert Pattinson in regards to his grooming.

The 2010 MTV Movie Awards air on Sunday, June 6 (check local listings for times).

New ‘Transformers 3’ Star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Topless in DT Magazine!

rosie_dtcover

Fashion model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was recently announced as Shia LaBeouf’s new love interest—replacing Megan Fox—in Michael Bay’s Transformers 3. Other than pretending to enjoy action star Jason Statham’s scrotum on her chin, Whiteley has zero acting experience.

So, what swayed Bay to cast her?

I don’t know, but the 23-year-old British babe did display some natural talent in January as the cover-girl for Spanish magazine “DT.”

Guillermo del Toro Gives Up on ‘The Hobbit’

gdt

MGM’s money woes (the studio is up for sale) continues to delay production on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. As a result, director/writer Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) has now officially departed from the project.

del Toro tells theonering.net:

In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming The Hobbit, I am faced with the hardest decision of my life. After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures.

I remain grateful to Peter, Fran and Philippa Boyens, New Line and Warner Brothers and to all my crew in New Zealand. I’ve been privileged to work in one of the greatest countries on earth with some of the best people ever in our craft and my life will be forever changed.

The blessings have been plenty, but the mounting pressures of conflicting schedules have overwhelmed the time slot originally allocated for the project. Both as a co-writer and as a director, I wish the production nothing but the very best of luck and I will be first in line to see the finished product. I remain an ally to it and its makers, present and future, and fully support a smooth transition to a new director.

The Hobbit, which will be released as two separate films, was scheduled to begin production in the summer with part one tentatively slated for a December 2012 release.

Megan Fox Shows Off Pink Bra at LAX!

Fox_airport

Here we have photos of Megan Fox and her bright pink bra arriving at LAX yesterday. The 24-year-old starlet looked kind of sad. Whether that was over dealing with the monkeys hired to keep us safe at the airport or her recently announced exit from Transformers 3 is anyone’s guess.

Either way it makes my penis sad too.

Genre Babes Suzi Lorraine & Cindel Chartrand Are ‘Bikini Girls on Ice’

Suzi_Lorraine

Think of every movie you have ever seen, good and bad. Now, imagine how much better those movies would have been if the lead roles had been played by hot chicks in bikinis.

First-time-director Geoff Klein overcomes the challenges of producing an indie-horror flick on the cheap by utilizing old-school scares and half-naked babes.

The film’s official synopsis reads:

When a bus-load of women’s soccer players get stranded on their way to a bikini car-wash fundraiser, they decide to set up shop in front of an abandoned gas station on the edge of town. Little do they know the place is the stalking-grounds for a homicidal maniac mechanic named Moe.

The slasher features plenty of slow-mo bikini car-wash shots, nudity, and sex. Genre babe Suzi Lorraine (pictured above) leads a cast that includes Cindel Chartrand, Kerri Taylor, Christina Sciortino, and Danielle Doetsch.

Tanit Phoenix Will Make You Rise in ‘Lost Boys: The Thirst’

Tanit-Phoenix2

South African model-turned actress Tanit Phoenix may not have landed the role of love-interest in Michael Bay’s upcoming Transformers 3 movie (she sent in a video audition ala Heidi Montag), but she did score the lead in the straight-to-DVD-bargain-bin sequel Lost Boys: The Thirst.

The 29-year-old, 5-foot-9 looker plays a vampire-romance novelist who bites off a little more than she can chew. (UPDATE: TANIT IS UP TO PLAY WONDER WOMAN/ WILL STAR IN HBO’S ‘FEMME FATALES’)

Peep the trailer:

Phoenix, who was reportedly one-of-four actresses considered to replace Megan Fox in Transformers 3, is putting on a happy face and doing her best to pump up Corey Feldman’s bi-yearly payday.

She lies to tells Moviehole:

I went up against some interesting American actresses, but Warner Bros and the producers loved my audition – and the director, Dario Piana and I got on so well – that they decided on me for the lead.

What I found very interesting about the Lost Boys script was that it showcases Vampires how they really are, blood sucking and evil, which somewhat dances around the fact that Twilight made their Vampires seem beautiful, but they really are not. I wanted to play a bad girl, and I finally got my chance.

The original Lost Boys makes the cut in Clatto’s 15 Vampire Movies That Won’t Make You Gay.

Phoenix can next be seen as an ex-military-sniper-turned-race-car-driver in Universal Pictures Death Race 2: Frankenstein Lives.
