Prepare for ‘Battle: Los Angeles’

battle-los-angeles_poster

Sony Pictures has released the first full-length trailer for director Jonathan Liebesman’s (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Begining) alien-invasion feature Battle: Los Angeles … and it is good. The film stars Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Michelle Rodriguez (Machete), Michael Pena (Love Object), Jim Parrack (“True Blood”), Noel Fisher (Breaking Dawn), sexy newcomer Taryn Southern, and R&B pop artist Ne-Yo.

Described as Independence Day meets Black Hawk Down, the film takes its name from a supposed massive UFO sighting in Santa Monica, California said to have taken place on Feb. 25, 1942,  just weeks after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. According to UFO enthusiasts, the alien ship was attacked by the U.S. military under the belief that it was Japanese aircraft (read more about it here).

Battle: Los Angeles begins on March 11.

‘The Resident’ Peeps a Half-Naked Hilary Swank in a Tub!

the-resident-poster

Hammer Films has set a Feb. 17 limited theatrical release date for its Hilary Swank thriller The Resident. To ensure folks show up, the studio has released a steamy trailer featuring a half-naked Swank in a bathtub.

While my brain sees through this obvious and cheap marketing ploy, my penis is holding its breath until I agree to take it to a showing. Well played Hammer. Well played.

Lena Headey Is One Hot Ma-Ma in ‘Dredd’

lena-headey-dredd

Lena Headey is set to face off against Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby in director Pete Travis’ Dredd 3-D, a big screen adaptation of the U.K. comic-strip Judge Dredd. Headey is reportedly playing sinister gang-leader Madeline Madrigal (AKA: Ma-Ma).

The film, penned by Alex Garland (28 Days Later), is currently shooting in South Africa on a reported budget of $45 million and stars Urban and Thirlby as Mega City One judges Joe Dredd and Cassandra Anderson.

Headey is best known for her performances as the topless Queen of Sparta in Zach Snyder’s 300 and as Sarah Conner on the short-lived Fox series “Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles.” She has also starred in such notable frighteners as Laid to Rest, After Dark’s The Broken, Screen Gems’ The Cave, and Terry Gilliam’s The Brothers Grimm.

Chloe Sevigny Rocks Bikini & New Art House Horror ‘All Flowers in Time’

chloe-sevigny-bikini

Chloe Sevigny (“Big Love”) has made a career out of starring in art-house flicks made for college kids in skinny jeans and Wavves t-shirts and chain-smoking women with excessive body hair. Her indie chi is so strong that even a graphic blow-job scene in director/actor Vincent Gallo’s The Brown Bunny did nothing to harm her rep as a legitimate actress.

All Flowers in Time appears to be yet another “avant-garde” film for Sevigny, but calls to mind the “Twilight Zone” episode “It’s a Good Life,” in which a six-year-old boy named Anthony has the power to control the world and everyone in it by simply willing it.

Peep the trailer:

The film’s Sundance synopsis reads:

“I am not from this place” declares a French cowboy. An old toothless man asks, “Do you know why you’re here?”

These shape shifting personalities infect young children with an evil signal in the form of a Dutch TV show. The red eyed girls and boys believe they can now become other people and monsters much to their delight.

A French cowboy? OK, on second thought, this reminds me of the “South Park” episode “Gay Cowboys Eating Pudding.” In any case, this post was really just an excuse to post surprisingly hot bikini pics of Sevigny in Miami:

Tamsin Egerton Promises Sex, Violence, Love & Humor in ‘Camelot’

Tamsin-Egerton-Camelot2

Starz has released a three-minute featurette for their upcoming original re-imagining of the Arthurian legend “Camelot.” Like its ratings champ “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” the series promises sex, violence, and beautiful people.

Peep it:

The show’s official synopsis reads:

In the wake of King Uther’s sudden death, chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When the sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future, he installs the young and impetuous Arthur, Uther’s unknown son and heir, who has been raised from birth as a commoner. But Arthur’s cold and ambitious half sister Morgana will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control.

These are dark times indeed for the new King, with Guinevere being the only shining light in Arthur’s harsh world. Faced with profound moral decisions, and the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination. Forget everything you think you know…this is the story of Camelot that has never been told before.

“Camelot” stars Jaime Campbell Bower as King Arthur, Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere, Claire Forlani as Queen Igraine, Eva Green as Morgana, and Joseph Fiennes as the wizard Merlin. The series begins its ten-episode run on April 1.

Lucy-Lawless-Jaime-Murray

Great Jupiter’s cock!

We are only weeks away from the premiere of the Starz network’s new “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” six-part prequel series “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.” Premiering Jan. 21, the Sam Raimi-produced swords-and-sandals, sexed-up soap will follow Batiatus (John Hannah) and his wife Lucretia (Lucy Lawless) as they strive for power and influence over the city of Capua.

Lucy Lawless, Lesley Ann Brandt, and newcomer Jaime Murray (“Dexter”) discuss their scandalous new show in the following promo clip:

“Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” costars Dustin Clare as the gladiator Gannicus, Jeffrey Thomas as Batiatus’ father Titus, Stephen Lovatt as Tullius, Jessica Grace Smith as slave Diona and Marisa Ramirez as slave Melitta.

Reprising their “Spartacus; Blood and Sand” roles are Peter Mensah (Oenomaus), Nick E. Tarabay (Ashur), Antonio Te Maioha (Barca), Craig Walsh Washington (Solonius) and Manu Bennett (Crixus).

“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” debuted last January to over a million viewers, making it the Starz network’s most watched program. A second season is slated to air later this fall, however it will sadly not include Andy Whitfield in the titular role due to his ongoing bout with Stage 1 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Tania-Raymonde

Tania Raymonde (“LOST”), Brit Morgan (“True Blood”), and Jennifer Landon are the latest Manson Girls to join director Susanna Lo’s bio-pic on Charles Manson cult follower Nancy Pitman. The film stars go-to-psycho Bill Moseley as Manson and is set to shoot in Los Angeles come March.

Thora Birch, who had replaced Lindsay Lohan in the project, has gone all helter skelter with her career choices (a rumored affair with her manager/dad) and is no longer attached to star as Pitman. No word on who will be filling in her shoes, but so far casting for the film has been pretty impressive.

Raymonde is best known for her portrayal of Danielle Rousseau’s doomed daughter on ABC’s “LOST.” The sexy-in-a-very-brainy-kind-of-way 22-year-old can also be seen in director A.D. Calvo’s supernatural thriller The Haunting of Amelia.

Brit Morgan joins the family

Morgan heightened her profile last year by playing werewolf-groupie Debbie Pelt in season three of HBO’s vampire-soap “True Blood,” while Landon—daughter of Michael Landon—first cut her teeth as a regular on the daytime soap “As the World Turns.”

Manson Girls costars Monica Keena (Night of the Demons), Heather Matarazzo (Hostel 2), Estella Warren (Planet of the Apes), Stella Maeve (“My Super Psycho Sweet 16: Part 2″), Laura Harring (One Missed Call), Patti D’Arbanville (Perfect Stranger), Michael Monks (Street Kings), Chad Faust (Tamara), and Eric Balfour (Skyline).

January Jones Will Show Off Curves as Emma Frost in ‘X-Men: First Class’

january_jones_emma-frost

“Mad Men” hottie January Jones celebrates her 33rd birthday today, but it’s fans of scantily clad superheroines that will be dancing in the streets. In an interview with Hero Complex, the X-Men: First Class star confirmed that her Emma Frost wardrobe is—despite what leaked on-the-set photos may suggest—on the revealing side.

She says:

The costumes are insane. It’s a lot of very body-conscious stuff. If you look at the comic book, she’s barely dressed. She’s got quite the bod, which is very intimidating.

I’m a petite person, so I didn’t want to go into a strict workout and eating regime. I would have disappeared entirely, and she’s very busty, very voluptuous, so I didn’t want to get rid of any of my curves.

I don’t know about you, but my penis just breathed a sigh of relief.

Jones, who  beat out British babe Alice Eve for the role, is part of a cast that includes James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Rose Byrne as Moira, and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

Gemma Arterton Finds Her Way to Paramount’s ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’

gemma-artertonhansel-and-gretel

British actress Gemma Arterton is set to star opposite Jeremy Renner in director Tommy Wirkola’s Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, a flash forward of the classic fairy tale that finds the duo hunting down supernatural forces for profit.

Arterton, who starred in last year’s tent-pole releases Prince of Persia and Clash of the Titans, reportedly beat out Eva Green (“Camelot”), Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) for the role.

Shooting for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters will begin on March 7 in Berlin. Paramount Pictures is aiming for a June 2012 release.
