Where does the time go? In the blink of a palm’s eye, Pan’s Labyrinth star Ivana Baquero has grown into a beautiful thirty-something stunner, appearing nude as slave girl Messia in Starz’ new “Spartacus” spinoff “House of Ashur.”

Baquero, along with co-star Jamaica Vaughan, delivers the show’s first bit of nudity in its premiere episode, “Dominus.” The Spanish beauty goes full-frontal as she’s startled awake by Ashur, who leaps out of bed, frightened after being given renewed life by Lucretia in the Underworld. Then more sex happens.

Baquero made her acting debut as a child in the Spanish werewolf thriller Romasanta, co-starring with the late Julian Sands (Warlock). Her breakthrough role came in 2006 at the age of 11 in Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth. She followed that up with The New Daughter, opposite Kevin Costner. Her latest genre role was in the 2021 horror-comedy Black Friday, featuring Bruce Campbell.

“House of Ashur” reimagines what would have happened if Ashur—a former gladiator and slave who became a cunning proxy to lanista Quintus Lentulus Batiatus in the original series—had executed Spartacus for the Romans and been rewarded with his own ludus.
