star-wars-force-awakens

If you missed the Comic-Con panel for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you should know that it was everything you hoped it would be and more. Director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy presented an arsenal of geek goodness, including sneak peeks and cast appearances.

On hand were Resistance fighters John Boyega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) and Dark Siders Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), and Gwendonline Christie (Captain Phasma). Special guests included Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, both of whom you’d expect to show up.

The big surprise was Harrison Ford, who spoke eloquently and just plain fucking cool when asked about returning to the Star Wars Saga.

Ford said:

It should have felt ridiculous. It was 30 years ago, and I sort of grew up! Here I was doing something that I did so long ago. But I can tell you that it felt great.

I wasn’t so sure it would, but the company was the right company. The director was the right director, Larry, you wrote us a wonderful story, and I was proud and grateful to once again be involved.

The original Star Wars that I was a part of really was the beginning of my working life, and I was very, very grateful for the opportunity that I had in that film, and for the success of that film. So it’s great to be back.

The gang also brought with them a behind-the-scenes reel showcasing the film’s practical effects and mind-blowing sets. The clip also provides some amazing scene and character footage (flame-throwing stormtrooper anyone?) that will leave you grinning like the kid you still are!

‘Ash Vs. Evil Dead’ Is More Groovy Than Groovy!

ash-vs-evil-dead-groovy

Starz has released the first full-length trailer for its upcoming series “Ash Vs. Evil Dead.” The show is produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, reprising his role as antihero Ashley J. Williams. It premieres Oct. 31.

The trailer is insanely awesome, chockful of gore, freaky-looking beasts, ass-kicking, and Ash’s one-of-kind wit. It’s everything Evil Dead fans want.

Peep it, beyotches:

Campbell told Comic-Con:

We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for your incessant hounding. Nothing would please us more than to be able to bring this to you for years. This is not a fluff thing, this is not a hobby. They’re all taking it seriously.

“Ash Vs. Evil Dead” picks up 30-years after Ash’s last battle with the Deadites and finds the reluctant hero forced out of hiding to stop a new uprising he has inadvertently caused yet again.

Campbell said:

Ash in his prime was the wrong guy to save the world, now he’s 30 years older. I’m really worried for the world.

“Ash Vs. Evil Dead co-stars Lucy Lawless (“Spartacus”), Jill Marie Jones (”Sleepy Hollow”), Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar #D Christmas), Mimi Rogers (The Rapture), and Ray Santiago (In Time).

Bughuul Gets Brutal in ‘Sinister 2’ Red Band Trailer!

Sinister 2

Gramercy Pictures has released a red-band trailer for Blumhouse’s eagerly anticipated sequel Sinister 2, in theaters Aug. 21. Ciarán Foy (Citadel) directs from a script by original Sinister helmer Scott Derrickson and writing partner C. Robert Cargill.

Sinister 2 stars Shannyn Sossamon as a single mother of twin boys tormented by evil specter Bughuul. The trailer does a brilliant job of selling the film’s biggest strength: gruesome kills (did a gator just eat that guy). The kids, however, are as silly as ever. But, damn, if the murders aren’t enticing!

Get Your Knotfest 2015 Tix & Enjoy the Apocalypse!

If you’ve watched movies and TV shows about the apocalypse, you’ve probably thought two things: that kinda looks fun and you wouldn’t last a day. Deep down in your black and rotting heart, you know running around decaying and burning cities free to indulge in your darkest, most base desires sounds awesome.

BUT… you also know chances are more likely your leg will end up on someone’s looted Foreman’s grill, the main course for a roving band of cannibals. Yup… stick a fork in you; you’re done. The way we see it… the apocalypse would be a fun place to visit, not live.

Well, here’s your chance! Slipknot invites you to spend “13 Hours of the Apocalypse” at Knotfest, its annual heavy music festival. The event takes place Oct. 24 and 25 at the San Manuel Amphitheater and festival grounds in San Bernardino, CA.

Knotfest features 50 bands on five stages. Performers include metal gods Judas Priest and heavy-hitters Korn, Suicidal Tendencies, Body Count, Mastodon, Corrosion of Conformity, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, The Sword, GWAR, Helmet and many more. Slipknot headline both nights with different sets.

Ariana Grande plays Charisma's daughter!

Carpenter first broke hearts as high school teen-turned-vamp-killer Cordelia Chase on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and spinoff “Angel.” She went on to score roles on “Veronica Mars,” Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables, and a string of indie horror culminating in this year’s Bound, a Fifty Shades of Grey inspired thriller from TheAsylum featuring a mind-blowing nude turn by Carpenter.

Grande is a Nickelodeon star. These days, she is best known for her terrible music.

MTV has released the first eight minutes of the pilot episode of its small screen adaptation of Wes Craven’s “Scream.” Former Disney star Bella Thorne (“Shake It Up”) steps in for Drew Barrymore and reenacts the slasher’s gruesome opening.

But… don’t expect any of the original’s humor. Forget the popcorn and the phone call and the movie trivia. This is by-the-numbers horror for today’s smart phone crowd. It’s not a total loss though. The new “Scream” mask looks menacing and Thorne’s tush is spectacular.

“Scream: The Series” premieres June 30.
