Ellen Page (Inception) and Evan Rachel Wood (pictured) are set to star in Into the Forest, an adaptation of author Jean Hegland’s post apocalyptic novel about two teen sisters living together far away from society in the Northern California forest when doomsday arrives.

Page and Wood will play the sisters faced with the horrifying reality that war overseas and political upheaval at home have led to the collapse of civilization, forcing people to live without resources such as electricity and gas. The film is directed and written for the screen by Patricia Rozema (Mansfield Park).

Page, who also serves as a producer on the film, is coming off voicing the PS3 sci-fi game Beyond: Two Souls. She stars in Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, reprising her role as mutant Kitty Pryde. Wood’s horror creds include stints on “True Blood” and the tragically short-lived ’90s series “American Gothic.”

A trailer has gone online for writer and director Greg Mclean’s Wolf Creek 2, a sequel to his 2005 slasher about a sadistic bushman in the Australian outback who tortures and slaughters unsuspecting travelers. John Jarratt once again reprises his role as the film’s baddie Mick Taylor.

Wolf Creek 2 finds Mick Taylor hunting down a new group of backpackers to torment and dismember. Roadshow Films will release the film in Australia on Feb. 20, 2014. The film has yet to acquire U.S. distribution.

Bruce Campbell, iconic star of Sam Raimi’s original Evil Dead trilogy, confirmed at the Wizard World Nashville Comic Con on Friday that there will be a sequel to Army of Darkness and that he will return to play beloved antihero Ash Williams.

Campbell spilled the groovy news when a fan pointed out that many people would love to see a sequel to Army of Darkness, the third entry in the Evil Dead franchise.

Campbell said:

The last one was twenty-two years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.

Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it.

IFC Midnight has acquired the U.S. rights to Dallas Hallam and Patrick Horvath’s The Pact 2, a sequel to Nicholas McCarthy’s 2012 cult hit, starring Caity Lotz as a woman tormented by the Judas Killer, a serial murderer hiding inside the walls of her childhood home.

The Pact 2 picks up weeks after the events of the original film. Camilla Ludington toplines the film as June Abbott, an L.A. woman haunted by a string of violent dreams in which she sees people slaughtered through the eyes of a Judas copycat killer.

Luddington is coming off the ninth season of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” The British stunner broke big in 2012 with roles on HBO’s vampire soap “True Blood” and Showtime’s “Californication,” in which she nude-fully played a nanny and aspiring actress willing to sleep her way into Hollywood.

Weirdsmobile Productions has released a trailer for Chastity Bites, a horror-comedy that finds notorious Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory employed as a high school abstinence teacher for girls. Plotting to drain the blood of her virgin class to use as an aging remedy, her only obstacle is a suspicious blogger.

Chastity Bites stars stunner Louise Griffiths (Revenant) as Bathory, Allison Scagliotti (“Warehouse 13”) as high school blogger Leah, and Francia Raisa (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”) as her BFF Katharine. The film is available on VOD on Nov.1 and arrives on DVD in February.

A red band trailer (boobies!) has gone online for Magnet Releasing Here Comes the Devil, a supernatural thriller from Spanish filmmaker Adrián García Bogliano (Penumbra, Cold Sweat). The film marks the feature film debut of Mexican singer Laura Caro.

Here Comes the Devil tells the story of parents whose young children go missing while exploring caves in Tijuana during a family trip. When the kids are found the next day, their aloof behavior suggest they’ve been molested by… SATAN!

Let’s face it… not everyone likes horror movies or being herded through a horror maze at a Halloween haunt. These people are terrible, joyless individuals who deserve to die alone. Unfortunately, many have insanely hot bodies, making them impossible not to date.

So, what to do?

The 13th annual Screamfest LA horror film festival came to a close this week with the announcement of the Skully Award winners at a closing night party held at the Eclectic Wine Bar in North Hollywood. Top honors went to Ben Ketai’s (30 Days of Night: Dark Days) new thriller Beneath.

Beneath stars Jeff Fahey (“LOST”) and Kelly Noonan (Not Another Teen Movie) as coal miners trapped 600-feet below ground. The film took home six awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Special Effects and Best Make-up.

In my opinion, Paul Hyett’s The Seasoning House should have swept all major categories. The film did score a Best Actress win for then 17-year-old Rosie Day for her portrayal of an orphaned deaf-mute girl forced to tend to the abducted girls trapped in a rape house for soldiers.

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, a Latino based companion film to the blockbuster horror series launched by director/writer Oren Peli and producer Jason Blum in 2007.

The trailer’s start makes you think you’re about to watch a sequel to End of Watch until the supernatural shenanigans kick in. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is written and directed by Christopher Landon (Burning Palms) and will be in theaters on Jan. 3, 2014.
