The Asylum has released a trailer for their very first upcoming theatrical release Hold Your Breath, starring “30 Rock” stunner Katrina Bowden as one in a group of college kids who become possessed by the spirit of an executed serial killer while driving past a cemetery.
Vera Farmiga has landed the mother of all roles. The 39-year-old Orphan star will play Norman Bates mom on A&E’s “Bates Motel,” a prequel series to Hitchcock’s Psycho from Carlton Cuse (“LOST”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”).

The series, which has been greenlit for a 10-episode first season, will focus on the relationship between Norma Louise Bates and her son Norman, giving light to all the fucked up things that led him to become a serial murderer.
Farmiga’s genre creds include bad seed thrillers Orphan and Joshua, the amputee identity disorder drama Quid Pro Quo and last year’s sci-fi sleeper hit The Source Code. She’ll next be seen in New Line’s upcoming based-on-true-events frightener The Conjuring.
A trailer for writer/director Scott Walker’s Frozen Ground has leaked online. The film is based on the true story of Robert Hansen, an Anchorage-based serial killer who murdered 24 women over a 12 year span by hunting them down like game in the Alaskan wilderness.
Frozen Ground stars John Cusack as Hansen, Nicolas Cage as the detective who brings him to justice, Radha Mitchell as his wife and Vanessa Hudgens as the teen prostitute who managed to escape from Hansen after being abducted, raped, and sexually assaulted with a hammer.
Anchor Bay Films has set an Oct. 9 DVD release date for SAW 2 director Darren Lynn Bousman’s Jersey Devil project The Barrens, starring Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”), Mia Kirshner (“The L Word”) and newcomer Allie MacDonald (House at the End of the Street).
The Barrens follows the Vinyard family as they set out to camp in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, home to the legendary cryptid known as the Jersey Devil. When Richard falls terribly ill, he begins to believe that they are being stalked by the creature.
Summit Entertainment has released a new trailer for Orphanage director Juan Antonio Bayona’s The Impossible. Set in Thailand during the 2004 tsunami that wrecked Southeast Asia, the film stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor as a vacationing married couple caught in the flood.
The Impossible is an inspirational film about the triumph of the human spirit and examines the bond that forms among people when they come together to get through a crisis and yada yada yada… Naomi Watts in a wet t-shirt for 120-minutes.

“House of Lies” and “Heroes” starlet Dawn Olivieri has been cast in Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke’s new psycho-sexual thriller Plush. She joins a cast that includes Emily Browning (Sleeping Beauty), Xavier Samuel (Twilight Saga) and Cam Gigandet (Priest).
Plush centers on a psychologist (Gigandet) who uses his psychic abilities to free patients from their demons. Things complicate when he meets a pretty teen rock star (Browning) with similar powers. Olivieri plays Browning’s band manager.
Olivieri is best known for her role as tattooed clairvoyant Lydia on NBC’s “Heroes.” She currently plays oft naked, pill-popping management consultant Monica Talbot on Showtime’s “House of Lies.” The 31-year-old looker has also appeared on the shows “True Blood” and “Vampire Diaries.”
Epix is set to premiere producer Roger Corman’s Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader on Aug. 25. To rally up support for the Kevin O’Neill-directed comedy, the network has released a spirited new trailer that reminds viewers why they want to see a movie about a giant cheerleader.
Attack of the 50-Foot Cheerleader stars Jena Sims as an awkward teen who uses an experimental drug in the hopes of becoming popular and beautiful, but ends up turning into a 50-foot giant freak instead. Costars include Sean Young, Ariana Madix, Paula LaBaredas and porn star Angelina Armani.
Australian model-turned-actress Megan Gale is set to star in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, the fourth installment in the franchise made famous by Academy Award winning actor and blow-job enthusiast Mel Gibson.
Mad Max: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy as the iconic “Mad” Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron as Furiosa, a leader in need of Max’s aid to get across the Wasteland in a War Rig. The film picks up soon after the events in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.
No details on what character Gale plays, but she joins a cast that includes fellow models Rosie Huntington Whitely and Abbey Lee Kershaw, Lenny Kravitz’s daughter Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough (Jack & Diane).
Lionsgate has released a trailer for writer/director Jay Anania’s psychological thriller The Letter (formerly titled The Stare). The film stars Winona Ryder as a playwright haunted by strange dreams and a sensation that she’s being watched and plotted against while attempting to launch her new production.
James Franco (127 Hours) costars in the film as the male lead in Ryder’s play and as a potentially destructive force in her life . Franco also serves as producer on the Waterstone project, which was shot in New York early in May.
