Twentieth Century Fox has released the first trailer for Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day: Resurgence, a sequel to the master of disaster’s epic 1996 alien invasion classic. Set 20 years after the events of the first film, IDR once again finds earth on the brink of extinction as a new wave of aliens attack. The film arrives in theaters June 24, 2016.
Leading the charge for the humans are Bill Pullman as U.S. President Whitmore, Jeff Goldblum as tech wizard David Levinson, Judd Hirsch as Dave’s dad, and Vivica A. Fox as former stripper Jasmine. New heroes include Sela Ward as acting U.S. President Lanford, Liam Hemsworth as not Will Smith, and Maika Monroe as President Whitmore’s recast, hotter daughter, Patricia.
Twentieth Century Fox has released the first trailer for Marvel’s X-Men: Apocalypse, the newest entry in the blockbuster franchise. Bryan Singer is back at the helm with James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) reprising their roles.
New mutants this go around—that we’re excited about—are played by “Game of Thrones'” Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Straight Outta Compton’s Alexandra Shipp (Storm), newcomer Lana Condor (Jubilee) in her acting debut, and geek goddess Olivia Munn (Psylocke), who needs to be featured a lot more, please!
“90210” star Shenae Grimes is set to star in The Rake, a horror film from Red Band Films based on an urban legend about a deformed humanoid creature with a thin build and long rake-like claws that mutilates people while they sleep.
The Rake follows three siblings as they return home to reconcile with the death of their parents 20 years ago and discover a connection to the urban legend. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Tony Wash and co-stars Zombeavers stunner Rachel Melvin.
Grimes broke into acting on “Degrassi High: The Next Generation” and landed “90210” right after. Horror fans may recognize her from roles in producer Bryan Fuller’s (“Hannibal”) Dead Like Me: Life After Death and Wes Craven’s Scream IV.
Warner Bros. has released a first trailer for The Legend of Tarzan, a retelling of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ tale of a boy raised by apes. Alexander Skarsgard (‘True Blood”) is Tarzan. Margot Robbie (Wolf of Wall Street)… Jane.
Synopsis reads:
It has been years since Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane at his side.
Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz).

Megan Fox returns as sexy newsreporter April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, the first sequel in producer Michael Bay’s reboot of the hit 90’s movie franchise, based on the popular comic first published in 1984 by Mirage Studios.
Paramount has released a trailer for the film, but for some silly reason it focuses primarily on the ridiculous turtles and some stupid looking rhinos instead of giving us a two-minute-plus clip of Fox in her tiny schoolgirl uniform. So why post? Cause a second-long glimpse of schoolgirl Fox is hotter than nothing!
French stunner Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) stars in IFC Midnight’s Narcopolis, a sci-fi thriller set in a future where all drugs are legal and sold by licensed companies. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Justin Trefgarne.
Set in 2024, Narcopolis follows an investigator framed for murder when he ties a homicide cover-up to one of the biggest manufactures in the country. Yung plays a mysterious time traveler caught in the mix. Scream Factory releases the film on home video March 3, 2016.
Yung is best known for playing hot ninja Jinx in Paramount’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Miriam Wu, Lisbeth Salander’s lesbian lover, in David Fincher’s adaptation of Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Yung will next play assassin Elektra Natchios in the Netflix original series “Daredevil.”
Kingsman stunner Sofia Boutella is in talks to play The Mummy for Universal Pictures. The film is the first in a new franchise built on the studio’s shared universe of classic movie monsters and is slated for release March 24, 2017.
The role is another big score for Boutella, who is coming off a breakthrough performance in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman as Gazelle, a drop dead gorgeous amputee assassin with lethal blades for feet. She’s starred in Monsters: Dark Continent and will next be seen in Star Trek Beyond.
The Mummy is directed by Transformers and Star Trek writer Alex Kurtzman from a script by Prometheus scribe Jon Spaihts. Tom Cruise is rumored as the film’s male lead, an ex-Navy Seal. Other monsters in Uni’s universe include Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Wolfman, and Phantom of the Opera.
Anchor Bay has set a Jan. 22 theatrical release date for co-directors Kevin and Michael Goetz’s American remake of controversial French thriller Martyrs.Produced by Blumhouse and the Safran Company, the film is written by Mark L. Smith (Vacancy) and stars Bailey Noble (”True Blood”) and Troian Bellisario (”Pretty Little Liars”).
Released in 2008 to critical acclaim, Martyrs tells the tragic tale of Anna, a severely traumatized child abuse survivor out to kill the people who abducted her. Unfortunately, her plan goes to shit when she and her BFF are caught in the act by a secret society of religious freaks convinced they can reach God by beating the living shit out of them.
We caught the L.A. premiere of Martyrs this year at Screamfest and were shocked to see the torture all but gone from the film. While the violence of the original made it almost unbearable to watch, it was crucial to the story and made the cult all the more terrifying. That said… those who haven’t seen the French film will most likely enjoy the effort, which is stylish, well-acted, and packs a punch… just one though.
Bugs centers on a group of hot bikini-clad chicks in Los Angeles attacked during a pool party by a massive swarm of deadly insects. Writer and director Ryan McCoy shoots his bikini classic in January but has already cut a 2-minute trailer to entice us.
Judging from the footage shown, Bugs could have been written by my penis… in other words, it looks awesome! Among the movie’s stars are Abigail Richie, Whitney Rice, Ashley Bracken, and 5-foot-11 stunner Katie Stegeman.
Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Zach Snyder and screenwriter David S. Goyer’s Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, a followup to the duo’s 2013 blockbuster Man of Steel that pits the son of Jor-El against suspicious humans and the Batman.
Henry Cavill reprises his role as Superman and Ben Affleck plays the Dark Knight. Co-stars include Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Gal Gadot stealing the entire movie as Wonder Woman at the 2:34 mark.
