Olivia Wilde is set to star in director Andrew Niccol’s (Gattaca) new soon-to-be-retitled dystopian sci-fi thriller I’m.mortal. Wilde joins a cast that includes Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake, and Cillian Murphy.
I’m.mortal is set in a future where people physically stop aging by 25 and must then purchase time to determine life expectancy. Those with lots of money can live forever. Those without are shit out of luck.
Wilde will play ailing mother to Timberlake’s character, a fugitive on the run from a Timekeeper (Murphy) for possibly having murdered a wealthy man for his time. Seyfried plays the man’s daughter. The film goes into production this year and will be distributed through 20th Century Fox.
Up next for Wilde are Disney’s upcoming Christmas tent-pole release Tron: Legacy and director Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens.
Director J.T. Petty’s (Burrowers) ode to snuff films S&Man (pronounced sandman) arrives on DVD and Blu-ray disc on Oct. 12. The film follows Petty as he documents the life and work of an underground horror filmmaker named Eric Rost, who may or may not be killing his actresses.
Check it, yo:
S&Man joins a growing list of films (i.e. Serbian Film, I Spit On Your Grave, Penance, Poughkeepsie Tapes) that embrace brutal violence towards women. Often times, the victims in these flicks are attractive women. That puzzles me. Why would anyone want to beat, dismember, and/or murder hot chicks? That’s like killing puppies or hating ice cream. Now fat chicks—that I could understand.
Of course, I know that watching an actress like Nikki Blonssky (pictured above) get raped and tormented in a flick would disturb moviegoers’ cocks. It would also ruin the horror and suspense because things are only interesting when they happen to good looking people—and by people I mean hot topless chicks . This fact is something I’m hoping Petty explores in S&Man when he turns on his viewers thematically and forces them to examine their demented interest in the genre.
A creepy new trailer for Paramount Pictures eagerly anticipated sequel Paranormal Activity 2 is now haunting the web. The clip introduces the film’s new victims, a family of four and their German Shepard.
Though I maintain a once-bitten-twice-shy attitude towards this movie (I found the original to be as dull as it was nauseating), I gotta admit babies and dogs reacting to unseen entities freaks me the fuck out. I’m also a sucker for simple scares such as doors slamming shut on their own.
Peep it:
OK, when the daughter shows a picture of a young girl, does she say it’s a picture of Katie (the possessed chick from the first flick)?
Paranormal Activity 2 is directed by Kip Williams (Door in the Floor) and arrives in theaters on Oct. 22. Oren Peli returns as writer/producer. The film will face-off against Kevin Greutert’s Saw 7 in 3-D (GoTeam Jigsaw!).
Greutert had been attached to direct the Paranormal sequel, but was forced to remove himself over contractual obligations with Lionsgate.
Italian actress/pop singer Violante Placido will join Nicolas Cage in Columbia Pictures’ Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The 34-year-old starlet will play the mother of satan’s spawn.
Placido is best known in the States as the naked chick in the George Clooney spy-thriller The American. Ciaran Hinds, who starred on HBO’s “Rome” as Julius Caesar, has been cast as the devil.
Directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Gamer, Crank), Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will find Johnny Blaze (Cage) hiding out in Eastern Europe, trying to find a cure for his Ghost Rider-y condition while helping to fight off the devil.
The first Ghost Rider grossed over $237 million despite sucking flaming donkey balls.
