Joss Whedon to Document Lonely Virgins in Avatar Body-Paint (Aka: Comic-Con 2010 Fans)

ava-tard

Producer and geek messiah Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse) is teaming up with documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) to capture the lives of hardcore Comic-Con fans … or, in other words, to make the world’s most boring documentary.

A source for the creative duo tells E! Entertainment:

They want to follow people for about three months leading up to this year’s Comic-Con. And then they want to film them there. They’re looking at all types of people.

Personally, I just don’t see how filming a group of fat guys in Avatar body paint not getting laid will make for a good movie.

For those of you with jobs, girlfriends, and/or vaginas, the San Diego Comic-Con is the biggest entertainment convention in the States for fans of comics and sci-fi/fantasy/horror films. The event sells out early every year.

That said. Do you really want to drop $14 to see Ava-tards like this:

mg

“LOST” producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have confirmed the return of actress Maggie Grace to the island. Grace plays Boone’s bratty sister Shannon, shot and killed by Anna Lucia (Michelle Rodriguez) in season two.

Cuse didn’t reveal much about the leggy 22-year-old’s role in the new season.

He tells Entertainment Weekly:

We’re really excited about having her back on the show, and we have a good story for her.

Harold Perrineau (Michael), Cynthia Watros (Libby), and Rebecca Mader (Charlotte) will also appear during “LOST’s” sixth and final season.

Josh Holloway Talks About Sawyer’s Descent into the Dark Side on ‘LOST’

sawyer2

If you’ve been watching the sixth and final season of ABC’s sci-fi series “LOST,” you know that actor Josh Holloway’s James “Sawyer” Ford character is heading towards the dark side. The loss of his could-have-been wife Juliette has filled the southern conman with rage and hate, making him vulnerable to the seductive forces of Evil Locke.

Yes, I’m reveling in the Star Wars parallels! I have always thought of Sawyer as the island’s Han Solo, but wrong I was (unless, of course, he’s running a long con on Evil Locke).

Holloway, who now-more-than-ever deserves an Emmy win, spoke to People magazine’s Shawna Malcom about Sawyer’s fall and his life-after-“LOST” plans. The following are some highlights:

How’s poor Sawyer holding up when we see him again in Tuesday’s episode?
He’s still racked with grief and full of guilt for allowing (Juliet’s death) to happen.

But Juliet’s the one who let go of Sawyer’s grip and detonated the bomb!
That doesn’t erase the shame and guilt of not being able to hold on. At the core, it’s a man’s responsibility to protect, no matter what. Going forward, Sawyer’s all anger. He hooks up with Locke because he just doesn’t care to live anymore. He’s already dead inside.

Are things officially over then between Sawyer and Kate?
Any feelings he allows for Kate are a betrayal to Juliet and their love. As the character, I don’t want anything to do with it. It’s shameful to him. Yet there’s an inevitable attraction. I want the writers to honor what Sawyer and Kate have built together, but I don’t know what that looks like.

Is it fun to get to play two versions of Sawyer this season — one on the island and one in the flash-sideways?
With all the things I’ve been through with this character already, it’s interesting. I thought I’d just figured out Sawyer and now it’s like, “Not so fast!” But life is that way — we think we learn lessons but then they come back for another round.

How are you feeling about the show winding down?
I cannot believe it, even though we’ve had quite awhile to digest it. It’s bittersweet. When every episode is done, it’s like, “Shoot, one more in the can.” It’s been an incredible ride for me as an actor. They’ve really taken Sawyer on a rollercoaster, and that’s been a pleasure to explore.

How would you like to see that rollercoaster end?
I would like to see Sawyer grow towards the light. He’s experienced that with Kate and then Juliet — that made him want to live again and live differently — but then it was all ripped away. So my hope for him is that he doesn’t wallow in the darkness.

Co-stars Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly have both said that they’re unlikely to do TV again after Lost ends. What are your plans?

I have a huge desire to do other things — TV, movies—and I feel like I’m just getting started. It’s gonna be a whole new adventure. I’ll always keep roots in Hawaii but inevitably, I must go to L.A. — that’s where the heart of the business is. It’ll be back to the audition room, and I’m game. I don’t want straight offers — I want to read for things. I want to prove to myself and to that town that I can go forward. I don’t want anything given to me.

“LOST” airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

Gwyneth Paltrow Joins Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Contagion’

gwyneth

Gwyneth Paltrow is the latest high-profile actor to join the all-star cast of Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming viral outbreak thriller Contagion. Joining Paltrow on the marquee are Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jude Law, and Soderbergh go-to-guy Matt Damon.

Contagion will center on the outbreak of a deadly virus and the global aftermath that ensues. The film’s narrative will reportedly share a similar structure to Soderbergh’s Traffic, presenting various character story arcs that will eventually cross. Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum) is penning the script.

Soderbergh claims Contagion was inspired by the swine flu epidemic … yeah, that, or the various STDs floating around his penis every time he put it inside his Girlfriend Experience star Sasha Grey.

Gemma Atkinson & Her 34E’s Make Their Horror Debut in ’13HRS’

Gemma Atkinson

Gorgeous British actress/glamor model Gemma Atkinson is finally dipping her pretty pedicured toes (what? I notice these things) into the horror pool with a lead role in Eyeline Entertainment’s upcoming werewolf frightener 13HRS.

According to director Jonathan Glendening (S.N.U.B!), the film showcases Atkinson’s and her jaw-dropping 34E chest in traditional horror fashion.

He tells the Daily Star Sunday:

It’s a horror movie staple to have an incredibly sexy woman pursued by a terrifying beast. Gemma fulfils this role more than adequately. She’s wearing a mini-skirt, blue blouse and stilettos during the whole movie because it’s set over one night. She’s very sexy – I’m a big fan. She surprised me, to be honest – she was superb. This could be the start of a stellar acting career.

Atkinson, who starred on the British teen-soap Hollyoaks and its two spinoffs, is eager to leave modeling behind to focus on a career in film. The 25-year-old stunner has been taking drama and voice classes to better prepare for the endeavor.

Gemma Atkinson

She tells The Argus:

I did the modelling for about three years, but acting is what I really want to do. It was really scary at first because modelling was what I’d become known for. It kind of took over the Hollyoaks role, so I’ve been really lucky to get back to Gemma Atkinson, actress.

Atkinson goes on to describe her experience in 13HRS as hard work and is thrilled to learn that the film will finally make its way into theaters later this year (the movie wrapped a year ago).

gemma-atkinson9

The film’s official synopsis reads:

A full moon hangs in the night sky, and lightning streaks across dark storm clouds. Sarah Tyler (Calthorpe) returns to her troubled family home in the isolated countryside for a much put-off visit. As the storm rages on, Sarah, her family, and friends shore up for the night, cut off from the outside world. But something comes out of the driving rain and darkness. Something that holds a dark secret so devastating that, in one night, it could wipe out the entire family.

Trapped, Sarah and her brothers and friends must use their heads as well as their physical strength to survive not only the thing that is hunting them down one by one – but their own entrapment as the besieged group turns in on itself. Can they survive the horror stalking them? Or is their enemy already amongst them, and has it always been? Can they survive for 13 hours?

13HRS is slated for release this summer. Co-stars include hottie Isabella Calthorpe, Simon MacCorkindale (“Poltergeist: The Legacy”), John Lynch (Black Death), Sue Scadding (Witchcraft X: Mistress of the Craft), and Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame.

OK, I think that’s enough words to justify the following photos of Atkinson in lingerie:

Krokus Returns with ‘Hoodoo Woman’ Video!

Kcover

Krokus is back!

I was in junior high when I first listened to Krokus’ Headhunter and, to this day, it remains on one of my go-to discs when I’m barreling down the freeway at 135 miles an hour, downing a bottle of Level One vodka and texting my friends.

The Swiss metal band’s original ’80s lineup has reunited for their upcoming brand new CD Hoodoo, available on Feb. 26.

A video for its first single “Hoodoo Woman” has been released and it’s surprisingly good. The video features all the necessary ingredients for a classic metal video: hot evil chick, hot abducted chick, skulls, and mullets.
