‘Spartacus’ Star Lesley-Ann Brandt Leaves Capua for the Big Apple!

LESLEY_ANN_BRANDT_SPARTACUS

Well, it looks like the gods have seen it fit yet again to spread cheeks and jam cock in ass!

Lesley-Ann Brandt, the South African model-turned-actress who plays sexy house slave Naevia on “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” and its prequel series “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena,” is leaving the city of Capua to take up residence in the Big Apple.

(UPDATE: MEET LESLEY’S REPLACEMENT ON THE SHOW HERE)

Deadline reports that Brandt has opted out of starring in season two of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” to secure a recurring role on the CBS crime show “CSI: NY” and to pursue other endeavors. Her previous creds include episodes of ABC Studios “Legend of the Seeker” and NBC’s “Chuck.”

Brandt is the second series regular to leave “Blood and Sand.” Earlier this year, star Andy Whitfield announced his departure from the show due to his ongoing battle with Stage 1 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Aussie newcomer Liam McIntyre will step into Whitfield’s sandals when shooting begins on the new season.

Eloise_Mumford

“Lonestar” actress Eloise Mumford is the first to be cast in Paranormal Activity director/producer Oren Peli’s ABC pilot “The River.” Mumford will play a helicopter pilot searching for a missing Reality TV explorer and his camera man—her father—along the Amazon river.

Peli is producing the shaky-cam (surprise!) horror series with partners Jason Blum and Steven Schneider. Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, Unknown) will helm the pilot episode from a script by Peli, Michael Perry (Paranormal Activity 2), and veteran scribe Michael Green (“Heroes”), who was brought in to rewrite the original draft.

Mumford made her acting debut on the Starz drama series “Crash” in 2008. The 24-year-old last starred on the short-lived (canceled after two episodes) Fox show “Lonestar,” where she played the gullible girlfriend of a Texas conman. She and British actress Imogen Poots have the unfortunate distinction of being cute chicks with horrendous, old lady names.

‘Apollo 18’ Found Footage Shows Us Why We Never Went Back to the Moon!

Apollo_18_poster

Dimension Films have released the first official trailer for Spanish director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego’s found-footage sci-fi frightener Apollo 18. The film marks Gallego’s English language debut and is produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).

The synopsis reads:

Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense.

What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.

Man, I’m so sick of all these Apollo conspiracies. Everyone knows man has never been to the moon. The whole landing was shot on the same sound stage they used for “The Bob Newhart Show.” Jeez, c’mon, people, don’t be so gullible.

Apollo 18 lands in theaters on April 22.

Brittany_Robertson_Secret_Circle

“Life Unexpected’s” Brittany Robertson is stepping into writer/producer Kevin Williamson’s new “Secret Circle.” Based on the book series from “Vampire Diaries” author L.J. Smith, the show stars Robertson as a California teen who discovers she’s a witch while living with her mother in New Salem.

Williamson, the creative force behind the Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer films and the TV series “Dawson’s Creek” and “The Vampire Diaries,” is penning the pilot for The CW and will serve as executive producer. Cameras are expected to roll in Vancouver next month.

Robertson, who currently plays protagonist Lux Cassidy on The CW’s “Life Unexpected,” is coming off Wes Craven’s soon-to-be released Scream 4. The pretty 20-year-old’s only other horror cred is 2009’s supernatural teen thriller From Within.

Mila-Kunis-witch-oz

Pretty munchkin Mila Kunis (Black Swan) is following the yellow brick road to director/producer Sam Raimi’s highly anticipated Wizard of Oz prequel Oz, The Great and Powerful. Kunis will play Theodora, the Wicked Witch of the West.

Penned as an origins story by screenwriter David Lindsay-Abaire, Oz, The Great and Powerful provides backgrounds on Oz’s wizard, played by James Franco (127 Hours), and its witches Glinda (Good Witch of the North), Evanorah (Wicked Witch of the East), and Theodora.

Kunis, a self described horror and true-crime fanatic, has starred in genre offerings such as The Huges Bros. apocalyptic thriller Book of Eli, John Moore’s video game adaptation Max Payne, Christian Duguay’s teen frightener Boot Camp, and Lionsgate’s 2002 sequel American Psycho 2: All American Girl.

Tanit-Phoenix-wonder-woman

Looks like there’s gonna be a few more Corey Feldman movies in South African model-turned actress Tanit Phoenix’s future. The 29-year-old star of Death Race 2: Frankenstein Lives and Lost Boys: The Thirst recently saw the titular role on NBC’s upcoming “Wonder Woman” series go to “Friday Night Lights” star Adrianne Palicki.

Phoenix, who also lost the part of Shia LaBeouf’s love interest in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon to Victoria Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, really seemed to be a strong contender for the part. At 5-foot-9 and insanely hot, she definately has the sex appeal and kick-ass abilities needed to play the Amazonian heroine. What’s that? How’s her acting?

Men in Black 3-D finds Smith’s Agent J heading back in time to save the universe from an alien threat with the help of a young version of Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K, portrayed by Brolin.

‘Friday Night Lights’ Star Adrianne Palicki Is Your Hot New ‘Wonder Woman’

Adrianne-Palicki-topless

“Friday Night Lights” star Adrianne Palicki is stepping into Wonder Woman’s red boots and star-spangled Underoos for writer/producer David E. Kelly’s TV re-imagining of DC Comics’ beloved Amazonian heroine. The pilot episode will reunite Palicki with her “FNL” director/executive producer Jeffrey Reiner.

Horror fans will recognize Palicki as the female lead in last year’s day-of-reckoning thriller Legion and as Sam Winchester’s doomed wife on the CW’s “Supernatural.” She is best known, however, for her portrayal of trouble-making babe Tyra Collette on NBC Universal’s high school football drama “Friday Night Lights.”

Kelly’s “Wonder Woman” will see the 27-year-old Palicki fighting crime in her underwear, running a successful corporation as Wonder Woman’s altar ego Diana Prince, and singing at the local bar with Vonda Shepard.

(UPDATE: SEE ADRIANNE IN THE NEWLY ALTERED WONDER WOMAN COSTUME HERE)

adrianne-palicki-in-wonder-woman-costume

UPDATE: Pictured above is Palicki in the new Wonder Woman costume. As you can see, they’ve ditched the red boots and star spangled Underoos. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in a world where Wonder Woman wears pants. I can only hope this is a studio produced fake-out to keep the real deal under wraps.

Then again, we do live in a society that shamed the Kool-Aid Man into wearing khaki shorts.

Regardless, I still have faith in the Kelly’s writing. Considering his creds include “Picket Fences,” “Ally McBeal,” “Boston Public,” “The Practice,” and 1999’s creature-feature Lake Placid, “Wonder Woman” will at the very least be better than recent hero offerings “The Cape” and “No Ordinary Family.”

“Wonder Woman” will air on NBC.

shandi-finnessey-panties

Fresh on the fins of Syfy’s Sharktopus, beauty queen Shandi Finnessey (Miss USA 2004) has caught yet another bikini-clad role on the network’s latest creature-feature: Piranhaconda. The silly frightener pits Finnessey and busty genre babe Diana Terranova against a piranha/anaconda hybrid out to devour everything in its path.

Piranhaconda is produced by hack renowned B-movie icon Roger Corman and directed by Jim Wynorski (Cleavagefield). Cameras are set to roll in Hawaii next month.

Finnessey and her bikini made their acting debut in last year’s Sharktopus, a Corman produced monster flick about a half- shark/half-octopus killing machine terrorizing a Mexican beach community. That little gem arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on March 15.

Props to HorrorAsylum for heads up.
