Dutch actress Carice Van Houten has been cast for season two of HBO’s Emmy-nominated fantasy drama “Game of Thrones.” The 34-year-old looker will play sorceress Melisandre from the eastern kingdom of Asshai.

She’ll next star opposite Clive Owen (Children of Men) in Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s (28 Weeks Later) creepy new ghost story Intruders, in theaters Oct. 7.

Break the Ice with ‘The Thing’ at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights!

thing_poster

Fright fans who think they’ve seen it all at Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights have got another thing coming. Universal announced today that a maze based on the studio’s upcoming prequel/remake The Thing will be featured at its Orlando and Hollywood theme parks.

A collaborative effort between park designers and the film’s producers, the maze replicates the sets, monsters, sounds and music featured in the new thriller, which stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and opens on Oct. 14.

Halloween Horror Nights runs on selected nights from Sept. 23-thru-Oct. 31. Mrs. Muertos and I have attended the last four and highly recommend y’all check it out (but go Front-of-the-Line to avoid ridiculous waits and to have a laugh at those less fortunate than you ). You can see some of our pics here.

More on the maze:

The new haunted house will offer guests an unprecedented first-hand preview of the much-anticipated thriller in advance of its October 14 release. Guests will find themselves in a series of face-to-face encounters with “The Thing,” an alien creature that can transform itself into an exact replica of any living being.

“The Thing” maze will recreate the spine-chilling suspense from the film, confronting guests with the paranoia and fear that comes from being trapped inside the film’s Antarctic Thule station. The shape-shifting alien could be anywhere or anything. Will they survive?

Eerily authentic, “The Thing” maze will feature elaborately designed and disturbingly real alien creatures and sets. They will match the film’s terrifying intensity and provoke both a memorable and disturbing experience.

Universal’s theme parks have partnered with the film’s producers, Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman to create an experience that is authentic to the film. The sets, audio, musical score, creature and character references are all based on the thriller.

You’ll Miss Anna Torv When ‘Fringe’ Gets Canceled!

Anna-Torv-Fringe

I tried watching “Fringe” when it debuted on Fox in ’08, but was turned off by John Noble’s annoyingly cliched and over-the-top mad scientist character Dr. Walter Bishop. I’ve heard great stuff about the ratings-challenged show since, especially something about an alternative reality, but I just can’t get past the Doc.

Anna Torv, the 32-year-old Aussie who plays FBI agent Olivia Dunham, however, seems like a pretty good actress and a very nice lady—and by that I mean she’s living a whole other alternate reality in my mind when I’m showering in the morning.

“Fringe” returns for season four on Sept. 23.

New Details & Promo for ‘Dexter’ Season 6!

dexter-season-six

Looks like the upcoming sixth season of Showtime’s “Dexter” is going back to basics. According to executive producer Sara Colleton, “Dexter” will pick up a year after the events from season five and find our bloodthirsty hero over the loss of murdered wife Rita (Julie Benz) and vigilante girlfriend Lumen (Julia Stiles).

Colleton tells TV Guide:

We wanted to jump ahead a year and find that Dexter has gotten his groove back. He’s gotten over Rita and Lumen… There are things in life that Dexter’s dealing with and one of them is that Harrison is now 2 years old and he has to go to school.

There are things that he has to start thinking about with his son, and he’s become keenly aware of what it is that he doesn’t want to pass on to Harrison, namely his Dark Passenger. But Dexter has no idea what it is that he does want to pass on.

“Dexter” returns in the fall. New faces include Edward James Olmos (“Battlestar Galactica”), Colin Hanks (Lucky), MC-turned-Actor Mos Def, Mariana Klaveno (“True Blood”), Molly Parker (The Wicker Man), Josh Cooke (Quarantine 2: Terminal), Billy Brown (Cloverfield), Aimee Garcia (”Trauma”)  and Brea Grant (”Heroes”).
