Aussie director Cate Shortland will helm Marvel Studio’s eagerly awaited Black Widow, a standalone film set before the events of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Scarlett Johansson is once again on board as the sexy, redheaded spy-turned-superhero.

Shortland doesn’t have much to her filmmaker credits, but she did win genre fans over with the suspenseful abduction thriller Berlin Syndrome, starring Teresa Palmer as an Australian photographer taken hostage while on holiday in Germany by the seemingly affable high school teacher she meets while sightseeing (it ranked in our list of 10 Sexiest Horror Films of 2017)

Black Widow was introduced in 2010’s Iron Man 2. No word on plot details for Shortland’s standalone film, but it is written by Jac Schaeffer, the scribe behind Olaf’s Frozen Adventure short… so you know it’s going to be good :P
