A second trailer for Screen Gems upcoming 3-D zombie-actioner Resident Evil: Afterlife hit the web last week. I didn’t think the quality was good enough for you guys, so I opted not to post it. But, now, a high-def trailer showcasing headliners Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter has been made available and I’m not sure you’re worthy of seeing it.

Resident Evil: Afterlife was shot in3-D by original Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson. The franchise, based on the bestselling Capcom video game, has grossed over $378 million worldwide.

Imogen Poots is how I describe the sounds my body makes after consuming too many Taco Bell burritos. It is also the name of the 21-year old British actress recently hired as the female lead in DreamWorks’ upcoming remake of the 1985 horror-comedy Fright Night.
Originally directed by Tom Holland (Child’s Play), Fright Night’s plot centers around Charley Brewster, a small town horror fan, who is convinced that his new neighbors are vampires.
The remake, directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) and penned by Marti Noxon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), is set in Las Vegas and stars Anton Yelchin (Terminator: Salvation) as Brewster and Colin Farrell (Ondine) as the vampire Jerry Dandridge.
Poots (28 Weeks Later) will play Brewster’s girlfriend Amy. She joins a cast that includes Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick Ass) as Charlie’s BFF “Evil” Ed Thompson, David Tennant (“Dr. Who”) as vampire-killer/Vegas magician Peter Vincent, and Toni Collete (The Sixth Sense) as Charley’s mom.
Fright Night goes into production this summer in New Mexico. It will arrive in theaters on Oct. 7, 2011.
Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos reminds us how difficult it is for fathers to keep their families safe from outside evils in his new coming-of-rage story Dogtooth.

Dogtooth opens in New York City on June 25. No word yet on whether it will be released nationwide.
ABC is set to debut their new vampire-soap “The Gates” tomorrow evening (10/9c.) as part of their new summer season lineup. However, if you’re chomping at the bit for a taste, the studio has made available a preview clip of the pilot episode’s first 17-minutes.
The clip introduces us to milfy vampire Claire Radcliff (Rhona Mitra) as she showers and rubs lotion all over her tan and shapely legs … oh, and attempts to cover up an impulse kill from her husband Dylan (Luke Mably) and new Gates police chief Nick Monahan (Frank Grillo).

At a glance, ‘The Gates” appears to be a mix of vampire cliche and “Desperate Housewives” gloss—think of it as a bottle of Tru Blood Light. It’s doubtful that the show will fare any better than ABC’s previous horror offering “Happy Town” (It’s cancellation was announced two episodes in).
That said, I’d watch Rhona Mitra pick her nose … provided she did it slowly and in the shower.

Warner Bros. held the premiere of its supernatural-western Jonah Hex last night at the Arclight Cinema’s Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, California.
Among those in attendance were Josh Brolin and his wife and actress Diane Lane, Megan Fox and her breasts, director Jimmy Hayward, Wes Bentley, Twilight’s Julia Jones, Lance Reddick, Helen Mirren, Kay Panabaker, hard rock outfit Mastodon, James Brolin (Josh’s dad) and his wife Mecha Barbara Streisand.
Now, while I have always praised the Arclight for it’s dedication to keeping families and minorities out of its theaters by charging steep prices for tickets and keeping an army of black security guards at the ready, I gotta say I was disappointed when they asked me to leave the screening and return to the movie I had paid to see … at the two-dollar theater down the street.

Singer/actress Miley Cyrus continues to look for new ways to distance herself from the wholesome Hanna Montana image Disney created for her. In recent months, the 17-year-old media sensation has relied on her vagina and impressive onstage stripper moves to scare families away. Now, she’s setting her sights on PG-13 horror to boost her into Kristen Stewart-like territory.
Cyrus is reportedly in negotiations to play the lead in Paramount Pictures and MTV Films’ big screen adaptation of author Lisa McMann’s supernatural young-adult novel Wake. In addition to Wake, the studios have purchased the film rights to its two sequels Fade and Gone in the hopes of launching a new teen-oriented franchise.

Wake centers on a teenage girl named Janie Hannagan who has the ability to enter people’s dreams and influence their actions, guiding them to understanding and peace. It’s a power Hannagan regrets and performs begrudgingly. But, things only get worse when she eventually gets trapped in some degenerate asshole’s nightmare.
Disturbia scribe Christopher Landon is adapting the book for the big screen.

Fast-talking “Gilmore Girl” Lauren Graham confirmed rumors that she will be joining the cast of Wes Craven’s eagerly-anticipated sequel Scream 4 during an appearance earlier this week on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Graham will play the part of Kate Kessler, mother to Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) cousin Jill Kessler (Emma Roberts). Though she joked about being film’s killer, the tall (she’s 5’9″) 43-year-old stunner didn’t reveal much else … other than some seriously hot legs.

Scream 4 is the start of a new trilogy that aims to frighten audiences while poking fun at modern day horror cliches much like the original did in 1996. Screenwriter Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries”) told the NY Post last year that he planned to reference J-Horror, PG-13 thrillers, vampire flicks, manga comics, and, most promising, torture-porn.
Model and sometime actress Adrianne Curry thrilled virgins of all ages at the 2010 Wizard World Comic Con held in Philadelphia last weekend. The 27-year-old Cosplay enthusiast attended the convention outfitted in what I assume is a sexed-up version of Admiral Natasi Daala, an Imperial Navy officer in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.
When not signing autographs, Curry hit the floor to take photographs with some of her favorite Star Wars characters including intergalactic bounty hunter Boba Fett, an Imperial Stormtrooper, Slave Leia, and, of course, Sith Lord Darth Vader.
I love Comic-Con! I have a tendency to molest and pester every stormtrooper and Fett who’s unfortunate enough to cross my path. I possess a bit of an armor fetish.
Curry is best known for being the first winner on the CW network’s reality show “America’s Next Top Model.” She has also starred in the straight-to-DVD thrillers Jack Rio and Fallen Angels.

Universal Studios Orlando held a grand-opening celebration for its new $200 million-plus attraction The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on Wednesday night. The event included a fireworks display over Hogwarts castle set to music from all six Harry Potter films, performed live by legendary composer John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws) and the Orlando Symphony Orchestra.
Among the franchise suits in attendance were the film’s stars Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, Michael Gambon, Mathew Lewis, twins Oliver and James Phelps, Warwick Davis, and Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter features attractions, shops, and restaurants themed after the Potter films.
Rides include the Dragon Challenge, a twin high-speed roller coaster set to a Triwizard Tournament backdrop, Flight of the Hippogriff, a family coaster set to simulate a Hippogriff training flight over Hogwarts Castle, and the state-of-the-art interactive attraction Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, located inside Hogwarts castle.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens to the public on June 18.
The first trailer for 20th Century Fox and Walden Media’s adaptation of Christian author C.S. Lewis’ third Chronicles of Narnia novel, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, has hit the web.
The eagerly anticipated sequel finds Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy Pevensie (Georgie Henley), along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter), joining Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) and his noble mouseketeer Reepicheep (Eddie Izzard) on a high seas mission to find Narnia’s seven lost Lords.

Voyage of the Dawn Treader is directed by Michael Apted (Nell, Gorky Park) and features Liam Neeson as the voice of Asian, the Lion creator of Narnia.
The first two films in the Narnia saga, 2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and 2008’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, were distributed by Walt Disney Films.
