Vanessa Hudgens & Mary-Kate Olson Get ‘Beastly’ Together!

vh

Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olson star in CBS Film’s re-imaging of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” tale Beastly.

Based on author Alex Flinn’s book of the same name, Beastly tells the story of an arrogant high school pretty-boy (Alex Pettyfer) whose face is made to look like R&B artist Seal after he pisses off the school’s goth-chick (Olson) who happens to be a witch. To break the spell, he must make nerdy-hipster classmate Lindy (Hudgens) fall in love with him before the year is through.

To learn more, check out the featurette:

Beastly is directed by Daniel Barnz (Phoebe in Wonderland) and costars Neil Patrick Harris, Peter Krause, Lisa Gay Hamilton, and Dakota Johnson (daughter to Don Johnson & Melanie Griffith).

Will

Box office champ Will Smith is eyeballing Alfred Hitchcock’s Suspicion for possible remake. The affable actor has expressed interest in producing the film and taking on the lead role originally played by Cary Grant.

Suspicion centers on a young bride’s fears that the charming—but broke—man she married is plotting to kill her to collect on her life insurance. The 1941 mystery-thriller is based on Francis Iles’ 1932 novel Before the Fact, which had a much darker ending than Hitchcock’s film.

The last time Smith played a white man’s role in a movie was in Barry Sonnenfield’s disastrous 1999 remake of the Wild Wild West. He played the part of Robert Conrad’s James T. West.

Personally, I’d like to see Smith take on a black actor’s role. Maybe Wesley Snipes’ part in Passenger 57 or Wesley Snipes in Boiling Point. Wesley Snipes is very black.

The Hollywood Blvd. Cinema in Chicago, IL hosted a 25th anniversary screening of Robert Zemeckis’ beloved 1985 classic Back to the Future.

The event included a Q&A and meet-and-greet with stars Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown), Lea Thompson (Lorraine McFly), Claudia Wells (Jennifer Parker), and James Tolkan (Principal Strickland).

After the screening, the actors all reportedly piled into the prop DoLorean DMC-12 parked outside the theater and attempted to head back to the ’80s to fire their agents—except for Llyod who simply went back to 2008 to buy better fire insurance for his home in Montecito, CA.

Natalia2

Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova serves as a reference model for director Louis Leterrier’s CGI-produced Medusa in Warner Bros.’ upcoming remake of the 1981 fantasy-adventure classic Clash of the Titans.

While the idea of using a hot babe in such a manner may seem odd, it should be noted that fifth century artists often portrayed the gorgon as both beautiful and frightening.

What you see here are scans from Empire magazine’s Clash of the Titans photo spread featuring Medusa’s transformation to snake woman. Admit it, you’d totally hit that.

Clash of the Titans stars Sam Worthington (Avatar) as Perseus, Liam Neeson (After.Life) as Zeus, and Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter) as Hades, lord of the underworld. The film arrives in theaters on April 2.

Eliza Dushku Still Blowing Joss Whedon, New Movie on the Way!

dhed

Eliza Dushku is to Joss Whedon what Leonardo DiCaprio is to Martin Scorsese … but with a great set of jugs. The pair have worked together on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel,” and the recently canceled Fox sci-fi series “Dollhouse.” Now, the 29-year-old starlet has hinted that she and Whedon will collaborate on a movie, most likely Whedon’s long-gestating thriller Goners.

Dushku told HollywoodLife.com:

I would say that we would be working on something new very soon! I think we’re going to work on a kickass feature together that we’ve been thinking about for a few years.

Dushku is also rumored to have a role in Ivan Reitman’s highly anticipated Ghostbusters 3.

Octopus Crawls Out of Woman’s Mouth!

octopus

Outside of horror, there are only three things that terrify me: work, actress Sandra Oh’s face, and sushi.

Ranger John over at Animals Hate Us has got a pretty spot-on rant against sushi bars that you should check out if you are even thinking about dining on raw fish and octopus tonight.

What caught my interest, however, was the creepy video John posted along with his story. It depicts a woman eating a live octopus that just won’t go down. The clip was created by French artist Steve Morel.

New Mudvayne Video Includes Torture, Necro-Sex, and … Emperor Palpatine?

mudvayne

Metal outfit Mudvayne have released a music video for their new single “Beautiful and Strange.” The vid features scenes of torture, dead people fucking, and an old guy who looks a lot like Emperor Palpatine.

Take a look:

You got a hand it to these goth/metal types. They sure know how to romanticize death. If I had awaken in my tomb and managed to crawl out, I don’t think I would have banged the dead chick in the plot next to me. I would have just gone home and watched HBO with a bucket of KFC and a bottle of Belvedere and enjoyed my time up until my next coronary.

“Beautiful and Strange” is off the band’s new self-titled CD.

If you need to keep headbanging, don’t miss these videos by Slayer and Slipknot.

Transformers 3 to Save the Universe & Hollywood’s Unemployed, Says Michael Bay

bay2

Director Michael Bay appeared on Starz’ “In the House” program last night to talk about the new Transformers movie, shooting in 3-D, and keeping Hollywood’s ass out of the unemployment line. Read on for the skinny:

On Transformers 3, Bay said:

You can’t just rehash the old. We’re adding a lot of new elements. We’re adding new characters. We’re adding a lot of twists.

Could one of those twists be 3-D? Paramount Pictures has reportedly been pushing Bay to shoot the film in 3-D despite the director’s dismissal of the technique as “time consuming” and a “fad.” But, judging from what Bay told Starz, it looks like the studio may get its way:

It’s a process we’re testing with some ‘Transformers’ scenes. How successful it is with my movie in terms of a lot of real stuff coming out of the frame, real dirt, real complicated little particles coming towards the lens, because hopefully that process will work. I’ve seen some tests that look great on other movies. I just want to see how it looks on my footage.

Bay was also asked about passing on a smaller project he was scheduled to work on before Transformers 3.

Bay explained:

I’ve become friends with these guys that run Paramount and they told me, ‘We’re going to get fired if we don’t have a 2011 franchise,’ so I’m like you can’t let these guys down. The economy’s been so rough, it’s kind of important. When you say yes to movie like this you automatically give 3000 people jobs. 1000 for the toys. 2000 for the filmmaking. I’m going to put [the small film] on hold and do it right after.

Transformers 3 begins production in May. Plans to shoot major action sequences in Chicago and Moscow were announced yesterday on Bay’s website.

Chemistry is what makes this franchise work.

Shia Labeouf, model-turned-actor Tyrese Gibson, and—most importantly—Megan Fox are all confirmed to return. Transformers 3 is slated to be in theaters on July 1, 2011.

Angelina Jolie Gravitates to Alfonso Cuaron’s ‘Gravity’ (Or Not)

aj

Acclaimed director Alfonso Cuaron has tapped Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie to headline his new sci-fi thriller Gravity. Written by Cuaron and his son Jonas, the film follows a failed space expedition’s sole survivor (Jolie) as she attempts to head back home to her daughter on Earth.

While additional details about the film are being kept under wraps, it has been reported that Jolie will most likely be the only actor seen on screen and could possibly be playing the daughter role as well (Jolie as an identical mother/daughter team? Wow. I hope they can’t hear me masturbate in space).

Jolie reportedly backed out of Univeral Pictures Wanted 2 to work with Cuaron. The 48-year-old Mexican director impressive creds include Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Y Tu Mama Tambien.

Warner Bros. will handle distribution for the film. David Heyman (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and Legendary Pictures are producing.

UPDATE: Everything you read apparently is bullshit. Jolie’s reps are saying that the actress has passed on Gravity. I know, you feel angry for having taken the time to read this. I too am disappointed having wasted five minutes to write it. I could have jerked off in that time … twice.

‘The Crazies’ L.A. Screening Took Place Last Night to a Quarantined Theme

c

Overture Films really knows how to throw a party. The studio held a top secret screening and after-party for its upcoming viral-outbreak thriller The Crazies last night at the KCET back lot in Los Angeles.

Guests were put through military check points and bused to various “infected” camps, while actors roamed the areas in full costume and makeup without breaking character.

The film’s director (Breck Eisner) and cast was also in attendance, including leads Timothy Olyphant (A Perfect Getaway), Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill), and Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th). All-in-all, the event looked pretty awesome.

c2

Unfortunately, I was not invited could not attend due to my asshole bleaching appointment (they’re impossible to book in LA). But, don’t worry. I have nonetheless compiled a gallery for your viewing pleasure down below (courtesy of Zimbio).

The Crazies opens this Friday.
